This truck IS being bought from a small town dealer that i have been doing buisness with since we bought our '84 Mustang SVO . They have alwayse treated us fair. This is the reason that we went back to this dealer when it came time to replace our 89 Taurus SHO that has 240,000 miles on the clock. I have dealt with the 2 Ford dealerships that are in town, and will do so only when needed. I aplaud you on your award from Ford as this shows that you will put the customer first. The small "country" dealer has to work harder to get the city customer, but once there, they will keep coming back in the future. thud, I am off of the soap box and donning the flame proof gear. Mike ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 1998 14:34:28 -0500 From: "Union Auto" Subject: Re: Order Priorities The Priority code on an order reflects in what order a dealer wants things built. They range from 10 to 99. A vehicle ordered as a priority 99 can't be built by Ford. Anything else is buildable. Ford allocates a number of vehicles to a dealer (Weekly for small dealers, Monthly for Large dealers). Note this means you get a vehicle quicker from a small dealer than a large one. If you have a allocation they build the lowest priority numbered unit possible. If priority 10 had a option that they were out of they would skip to 11. If you have multiple orders (they go by vehicle line) on the same priority, they build retail orders before stock, and pick the oldest order first. I order starting at 15 (so I've got room incase I need something urgent) on Retail orders and Stock orders at 30. If another dealer orders all his at 10 it does not give them any advantage over a 15 on my order bank. Also you might ocassionaly get a priority 01-09 which is set by Ford not the dealer. This means for some reason this vehicle will get built really soon (I had one retail order that didn't get scheduled for 8 moths due to the shortage of Off Roads and it got bumped up. Thats the only time I've seen it.) So basically Priority codes affect scheduling within the dealership, not scheduling between dealerships. Nathan Bernard Union Auto, Inc. Thanks Nathan, I have learned more about buying vehicles in the last month through this list (and you guys at Union) than I have from any other source. When one understands what is going on, it makes the entire process more bearable. It is incredibly nerve wracking experience especially when you think about the fact that your spending $30,000!! P.S. My son-in-law sells cars/trucks (Chevy). Union Auto wrote: > > The Priority code on an order reflects in what order a dealer wants things > built. They range from 10 to 99. The shuttering you are feeling may be coming from warped rotors, although I would think you would feel it all of the time while applying break pressure. I have already had to have my drivers side rotor turned due to a groove forming right around the center of it, this is with less than 4k miles on it. The dealer told me they checked the brakes and could not find what caused it. Now here I am at 6k+ miles and guess what's back? This time I will request the rotor be replaced instead of turned again. Good luck. Michael hunter ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Apr 1997 19:16:47 -0400 From: "Ann Mitchell" Subject: F150 OffRoad Package, what's in it? I have a 1998 F150 supercab with limited slip 3.55 rear end, skid plates, fog lights, heavy duty cooling and alternator, 16" cast aluminum wheels and 255/75/16 tires. My understanding is that the "OffRoad" package, that I didn't buy because of the stickers, would have only added heavy duty shocks (I can get after market nitrogen filled and tires(try to find some 17" tires in aftermarket), and the stickers. Does anyone know if there were other tweaks that weren't listed in the package like suspension components(springs)? I like the plain look approach to vehicles. It's what you do with what's under the hood that impresses me. I'm planning on ordering an F250SD 4x4 reg. cab. I want to actually get it this fall, Sept. or Oct. My question is when should I plan on ordering it? Will all of the delivery problems be solved by this summer, or do I need to order it now and hope it's slow, or can I place an order and specify an estimated delivery date? I don't really want the truck until September at the earliest and I will have to order it to get the configuation I want. I love my 99 Superduty F350 Powerstroke SuperCab Lariat 4X4! I have a problem though... When I accelerate with even alittle bit of more than normal acceleration, I get a vibration and banging noise throughout the whole truck! Sounds and feels BAD! Actually like S* to the dealer. They say it's because of the two-piece drive shaft. They called FORD (so they say) and there are no fixes in the works. My friends 1997 SC Powerstroke XLT 4X4 doen't do this. I have had 4 new FORDs dince 1989 and two Merkurs. They all have performed great! Mileages range from 20k to 100k. This truck is the most expensive of them all and I have waited for it since October. I am only 27 years old and take pride in this truck and this club, but I am really disappointed. I even have people giving me....
