I would like to comment on this stuff they sell at the high volume dealers. Rust proofing consists of spraying the underneath of the truck with tar. You have at maximum $50 in materials involved. Paint sealant is just a wax that includes Teflon ($15 a bottle). Interior stain protection, you got it, Scotch Guard. This costs about $5 a bottle and 1 will do a couple of trucks. So you just paid $515 for $70 worth of materials. This is why it is much better to buy at a smaller dealer who won't cheat you on things like this. On a similar note, I would like to comment on DOC fees (short for Documentation). This is a bill for doing the paperwork. They should throw this in if they are worth a darn. Much like any other form of dealer prep. I feel I am qualified to say this because we just received The 1997 North American Customer Excellence award from Ford. This is the highest award of its kind from Ford. It is awarded by ratings from your own customers. You don't get this by charging DOC fees and selling paint sealant. If you earned your award in part, by being straight forward and honest, then congratulations! You deserve it.
