You obviously didn't read a single paragraph on the web page. You were introduced to the mailing list when you emailed me. Sorry for the hassle but people email us on a daily basis who have not read the above guidelines." ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ After clicking that you have read the page, you get presented with the web address. >at corporate) to tell me if that was possible. > >I've experienced their customer service first hand - and what I've seen >does not look good. > >thanks...rich > Next time, RTFM. I beg to differ. The only difference I can see is if you slam your head thru the rear window of a pickup and die from head trauma - you can have an open casket. On the other hand, if you die in a burning pick up truck you'd probably have a closed casket. You're still very dead in both instances. >First, F350s are commercial vehicles. By law, they aren't required >to have passenger headrests. >And second, Ford won't respond in this forum. I find this statement simply amazing. We have a company that had them on the trucks - further, Ford chose to add air bags to these F350's. Why would they add air bags and remove head restraints? And are we only going to deal with a compnay that simply follows the law? Ford has a big splash on the web page about safety - no where do they state they are simply following the letter of the law. >Ford Truck Enthusiasts is **not** affiliated with Ford Motor Corporation!! >The web site says this!!! Did you even bother to read anything on the >web site or are you just looking for a place to vent? Have we hit a senstive spot here, Ken? I know you're not associated with Ford. I'm simply discussing an issue with a truck that I wanted to purchase. If you, as creator of this forum don't want this discussion - then stop it. rich ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 11:47:58 -0600 From: "Eric Elliott" Subject: Head Restraints Hello, The local shoe repair shop would be happy to make custom leather head restraints that I could glue to the rear glass of a F350 or whatever. The local upholstery shop would be happy to recover any BMW, Volvo, 97 Ford or other head restraint in any material I might choose. Probably I could find a local shop that would make brackets to mount head restraints in a F350. My 88 GMC k1500 has had 2 Minimus 7 speakers fastened to the rear glass for over 10 years. The acrylic sealant still supports both speakers. Therefore I know head restraints could be mounted easily. Urethane upholstery foam covered with monogrammed leather would be a nice custom touch in any truck. While I am beating this horse to death (I'm not the first!), let me speculate that Ford deleted the restraints mainly because drivers complained about the obstructed view. No these mirror challenged drivers couldn't just remove the head restraints, they won't consider such a solution! Perhaps the best head restraint would be a padded leather strip about 6" tall covering the window from side to side, such that a head couldn't hit bare glass. Had Ford provided stock restraints, continuous protection would not have been available. You said it, not once, but twice, in your last posting: "or until Ford responds in this forum." "but then - Ford certainly isn't jumping in here to make a comment on why this was removed." I don't moderate the lists so I'm not (in your words) going to stop it. We've had many posts on the lists since they started, many were complaints, but most aren't beaten to death. IMHO, this topic has died. Talk about it if you still think Ford might join the list because of it.... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Mar 1997 15:36:38 -0500 From: "Ann Mitchell" Subject: Re: overhead console I hear they have head restraints Steve - -----Original Message----- From: WVJKQ To: fordtrucks97up Date: Saturday, March 28, 1998 1:17 PM Subject: Re: overhead console >has anyone seen the overhhead consoles on the 99 lariet. i havent seen any >lariets yet just xlt. > >please quit whinning about the head restriants. i understand your concern but >LET IT GO > > >JIM >+-------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1997 and Newer --------------+ >| Send posts to fordtrucks97up >| List removal instructions on the website. | >+----------------- Site: http://www.ford-trucks.com -----------------+ > ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 15:53:04 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: Re: overhead console At 03:36 PM 3/28/97 -0500, you wrote: >I hear they have head restraints > >Steve Touche'! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 15:51:58 EST From: WVJKQ Subject: Re: overhead console I was hoping they had them installed there. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 16:00:33 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: New and Improved stickers The 1st batch of stickers that we've been selling to fund the web site and the Ford truck mailing lists have finally been sold. We just got our second batch back from the printer. Its very similar to the current sticker except its larger and the web address font is different. This sticker is **much** easier to read. Price is the same. For those that don't know, to fund the web site I sell static cling window stickers. Go to the main page and click "Products" for full information (note, the page says the sticker is 2.75" x 11", its now 3" x 12"). Now returning you to our regularly scheduled program... The overhead console had a "cubby Hole" in it that looked like it would drop all of its contents into the back seat if you accelerated to fast. Then down towards the windshield they have an LCD display that was set to display the compass heading and the MPG that....
