Currently have a Ford diesel and will be buying an F- Super Duty within a year or so. Why? Experience with both brands. I owned an 83 and an 85 diesel Blazer with the 6.2 diesel. In Haiti in 94 my unit had a dozen or so Chevy 6.5 turbo diesels. Performance and reliability were disappointing with the Chevys. The interiors just seemed to fall apart with hard use. In Haiti we had to drive into some pretty rank places with roads barely recognizable. The Chevys were not confidence inspiring. Whenever the situation was difficult I always wished I had been able to take my Ford diesel truck with me on that C-141 leaving Ft Bragg. Fords are just a better brand. Hey y'all, Our first Super Duty Arrived today...actually I went to the Ford plant in St. Paul and got it. It is a F-450 4x4 cab and chassis XLT with the 7.3L and auto. This thing is an absolute beast. Tons of power, exceptional visbility, enormous cab room, and very little engine noise inside the cab are just the start of the qualities. I think anyone interested should definately check one of these bad boys out. We are supposed to be getting two more next week....I can't wait. These things will sell like hot cakes. THanks for the info man, I've been in love with these 99's since i saw them and test drove the V-10. I can't wait to teat drive the new STROKER. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Mar 1998 22:41:33 -0500 From: Jim Clementz Subject: Re: 1998 F150 Exhaust Steve: I got the single 3" Gibson on mine. The Gibson brochure says that the dual 2.5" pipes aren't recommended for heavy towing. I have a 17' travel trailer but plan on moving up to a 25' in another year. They also say the single 3" makes about 7 more ft/lb torque than the duals. I live in Virginia Beach and bought the system from Truck Accessory Center in Moyock, NC. I had them install it. The cat back was 263.00, they charged me $45.00 to install although I could easily have done it myself but didn't feel like doing it. This system is pretty hefty so I feel comfortable it will last (although I trade in trucks about every 2 years so it might not matter if I get the "itch" again in 2000).
