If you need strong frame order the Cab-Chassis model. I have F-350 super cab, cab-chassis, V-10, 4x4, DRW on order, no build date yet. Wondered if anyone out there could let me know if they are getting anything significantly different. 98 F-150 Supercab 2X4 4.2 V6 Automatic 3.55 rear axel 15 mpg I know I didn't get a Geo, but I did expect at least 17-18. That's Imperial gallon. Salesman said up to 28 but the best we've seen is about 22. That's a rare exception. As low as 16. Great truck (my wife's) for a "girly truck" Fun to drive but not as economical as we'd hoped. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Mar 1998 20:44:10 -0700 From: Dale Ellis Subject: Re: fordtrucks97up-digest V1 #15 Great stuff, Ken. I can attest to the Chevy's "reliability, since I have owned my 1988 K1500 for 8 1/2 years. There is very little that hasn't been replaced at least once. I took delivery of my brand new 1997 F250 PSTD SuperCab yesterday. It was the best deal I've ever had on a new truck -- dealers invoice, minus $1750 rebate, plus $259 D&H. I'm looking forward to many years of nearly trouble-free use. Now if I can only sell the Chevy before something else breaks. . . I will respect the opinions of the list members regarding this matter, just like I have with all other past votes. Your opinion, for or against this issue will not hurt my feelings. Anyways... the issue: Last week, a vendor approached me (via email) and asked about advertising in the digest version of the lists. The ads they are requesting would not appear on the live lists but at the top of each digest just below the table of contents. As an example: " - --------------------- [ Sponsor's Message ] ------------------ Foobar Ford Performance Products is pleased to announce the addition of new roller cams for 302 V8s. These cams, when combined with Foobar's push-rods and valve trains offer higher horsepower and torque. For more information, visit Foobar at: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.foobar.com When ordering, state you saw their sponsorship message for a 5% discount. - -------------------------------------------------------------" The ads, like the example, would be simple and to the point. Neither would I personally promote the products. I really need feedback on this. To post your opinions on the matter, send an email to fordtrucks forward all the messages to the all the lists. Again, do **NOT** send your opinions to the list, send them to fordtrucks the posts to all the lists since this affects all of them. Your emails should appear on all the lists within 24 hours of sending them. Also, when replying to opinions on this, send the replies to: fordtrucks If members feel this issue may be appropriate I'll put a voting form on the web site. If the members are overwhelmingly against it then it will not be voted on. This would also mean that I would revise the charter to allow this. Since the beginning, I've maintained that our lists would be free from vendor influence. Its up to the list members to decide if a sponsorship message of this type is considered influence. We're about to get more window stickers printed (we have 4 left) and we'll soon get estimates for T-shirts so the advertising money would help. However, we're aren't hurting either. Your opinions concerning this matter are welcome. Lastly, as an option on the voting form (if we end up needing one) we could state that we would do a trial run to see how it works.
