The cause of all these problems is greed. They are saving a few dollars by using what they call "Mixing Centers". As a dealer we call them mix-up centers. This is the epitome of stupid. They put vehicles on trains more often than they used to and this is causing a shortage of rail cars (then they brag that they are getting every rail car built for the next few months). Then after the vehicles get to a mixing center they sometimes get "lost" and spend a week or two before they get released to the Transport company. Then they get backed up from all the vehicles at once and there you have another delay. And what is really sad is that our dealership is in Iowa, and if I order an Explorer (made in Kentucky) and A Super Duty (also made in Kentucky) and they are built the same day The Explorer will be here a few days later and the Super Duty will take 2 to 3 weeks. Ford makes more money on an Explorer so I guess they want them shipped quicker. As a side note, Since they've started using Mixing centers we have found more damage on vehicles than ever before. On Super Dutys check the front bumper extremely carefully. We've had two with dented bumpers. I have heard all sorts of horror stories about the kind of people they have moving Vehicles at the Mixing centers (don't know if their true). Just for reference My F-150's come directly on the truck from the Assembly plant (Kansas City) and since the SD was released I have not had one damaged. I have had 4 SD (Mixing center shipping) damaged. If anyone hears anything useful please keep me informed. Nathan Bernard Union Auto, Inc. I'm interested in the Powerstroke diesel and a 4WD conversion from one of the 'pass through' dealers. Don't know how to go about that part either, so if anyone has any experience to pass on I would appreciate it.
