I talked to a couple of different guys and they said that I could pick up a noise reduction box that plugs into your hot wire for your radios. I think that you can pick up one at about any electrical store. That should do it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Mar 1998 12:11:30 -0600 From: Zach Whitehill Subject: 99' F150's I'm going to order a 99' F150 this year, and I was just wondering if the 99's are going to have quad cabs, when I could order the new one, and if a person can get dual gas tanks on the 99's. I love my 97' and hate to give it up, but I need and extended cab. If anyone can help thanks... Zach ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Mar 1998 12:47:23 -0800 From: "." Subject: Re: Radio Noise Mike, First off, there are many areas of a vehicle that can cause radio noise. Here are some areas that you may consider 1) Nylon tires: Solution to problem is grounding springs in wheel grease caps 2) unshielded leads going to antenna 3) alternator brush noise 4) Spark plug wires 5) poorly grounded hood 6) ground straps from engine to frame, and hood to frame or body 7) Poor antenna location 8) poor antenna grounds 9) unfiltered radios (doubtful) but probable. 10) poorly grounded radio Ford states that there are two available slots for accessories. The accessories terminals are for relays which are used to to supply 30 amps to whatever it is that your hooking up as accessories. Ford also states that any additions need to be isolated via a relay so as to not interfere with the vehicle electronics, ie: computer etc. You have a difficult problem to find, but a small problme to fix. Hello all, I am new to this group and am contemplating the purchase of a '99 Superduty. What I want to get is a Superduty 4x4 Crew-Cab short bed with the V10 engine, snow plow prep, and towing package. I looked at edmunds for the options but it doesn't look like I can get the Crew Cab, V10, snow prep, and tow package all together in a F250. It seems that I MIGHT be able to get them all in a F350 but I'm not sure. Also, if one is to buy the F250 4x4 and V10 it seems you might as well get the F350 4x4 as it comes with V10 for free. The price diff is negligible and with all the options I added the F350 was actually cheaper! Can anyone give me an idea if what I want is a legal build option? Thanks, Tim B ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 05:18:28 -0500 From: Mike Kappes Subject: Re: Radio Noise I have my radio going directly to the battery terminals which should be a good ground but the noise does disappear when you turn off the vehicle. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 05:26:58 -0500 From: Mike Kappes Subject: Re: Radio Noise Well whoever you are I can rule out 1,2,5,7,,9,10 I have the radio going dirctly to the battery terminals as the manual states. You did not mention the fuel pump or RF from the computer. I will call Icom and see what they say. Mike Kappes ------------------------------....
