Was going from Las Vegas through Death Valley to Panamint spring and refueled in Ridgemont Ca. The penalty was that I was mostly doing 55 MPH or less. Unloaded Round trips from San Jose ca to LA are 19 mpg and to South Lake Tahoe at the same speed is 17 mpg. Last summer doing a loop from San Jose, ca through southern Utah, I was getting tanks from 14MPG to 9.8 carrying a 3000 lbs Lance 820. The avg for that trip as about 11.8 Unloaded I have the tires at 65 lbs, and full GVW at 82 lbs. 265/75/16. Speed/boost has a large affect on the milage of a Diesel. More speed, lends to more boost == more fuel consumption.
