All 5.4L and 6.8L engines are built at Windsor so if you have a 5.4L your engine could have piston slap and may qualify for replacement if the Ford mechanic detects the noise. -----Original Message----- From: Jean Marc Chartier To: 97up-list Date: Thursday, March 09, 2000 4:29 PM Subject: [97up-list] Re: Windsor Engines & piston slap >"Ian R. About 2 weeks ago, the mailing list archives were put on the web site in searchable form. Unfortunately, there turned out to be a problem with many of the archive files and they displayed blank pages. This how now been corrected. The archives can be found at: http://www.ford-trucks.com/archives/index.html Since they aren't accessible via links and only via a search, your email addresses are protected against spam harvesters. Does anyone know what percentage of 5.4 L engines experience the piston slap? Ian... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve J. Pretty good odds that you don't have the problem. It has been on since new, 20K miles at this time. I purchased the Permacool Mount and use a Wix 51525 filter (I may have the filter numbers transposed). I also installed a large B&M Cooler and pinched off the cooler line to the radiator. I would have to crawl under the truck to find the line configuration. You can tell by feeling the line temperature when the truck is warming up. I asked the Ford Service Manager to give me the Inflow/outflow designation from their computer. If you want me to check respond back to me. Scott. ______________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 01:56:30 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: ADMIN: Message boards have been upgraded. The message board software has been upgraded. Check it out! It has many new features, including the ability to integrate with mailing lists, rating topics, email topics to a friend, sorting, printer friendly output and more. Once I figure out how to guard email addresses, the mailing lists will cross-post to the message boards and visa-versa. Azie will finally have access to the web site, though in an indirect way! Ken Payne Admin, Ford Truck Enthusiasts PS - I'm still working on web mail, I found a bug in the setup that will be addressed this weekend. ------------------------------ End of 97up-list Digest V2000 #25 ********************************* ---------------------------------------------------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts 1997 and Newer Truck List Send posts to 97up-list....
