Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2000 16:30:25 -0600 hey all, got an RV e-450 (v-10/ auto) with what i believe is an emergency brake assembly mounted to the rear of the transmission. it looks like it's flinging oil around the underside of the truck. is it normal, or is there something i can do? the brake drum assembly is clean, but the mounting for the yoke (?) is oily. any input appreciated, parker whoz ------------------------------ From: "Ron,Marge,Ted" Subject: Re: Extended Warranty Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2000 18:48:24 -0500 Hi Chris, I purchased an extended warranty on my 90 F-150 when it was new. Great truck, only ever needed to replace a $50 power steering hose, which was covered, The only catch was that with a $50 deductible, I broke even. Definitely never got my monies worth ( I think somewhere around $700 then ) from that ESP, like I said, it was a good truck for the 8 yrs I had it. My wife's 94 Explorer on the other hand, used up more than the $800 that the ESP cost us. We've had a new stereo replaced, probably worth $300+. Then there was a new radiator worth over $475, and just last week, over $450 worth of automatic 4X4 hubs. Oh yeah, almost forgot the new O2 sensors worth I don't know what. All this was done within the last year, so with the ESP due to run out this July, we have our fingers crossed that it won't need any high price repairs for awhile. So, in August of 98, when I bought my 98 F-150 ( traded ole faithful 90 F-150 ), I purchased a 5yr/50000 mi ESP on it. I can tell you that all 3 times, the extended warranty was purchased from Ford at the time I took delivery and the dealers have been no problem in honoring any claims I had over the years. You ask are they worth it, as far as my first truck, they made money on me because I only had one minor claim, but in my wife's situation, we came out ahead! Hope this helps..... I've been giving serious consideration to buying an extended warranty policy. I found out that they ain't cheap. From a low of about $800 to a high of almost $1300. I've got some questions and I was hoping that some of you might be able to clarify this for me. > > Did you get an extended warranty? > If so, did you get it from the Ford Dealer or elsewhere? > Which do you recommend for me? > Did you get a warranty for EVERYTHING or just the drive train? > Have you had any Claim Experience under your Extended Warranty? > Was it Good or Bad? > > > Thanks for your input. > Chris > DixieViking > > > ========================================================== > To unsubscribe, send email to: listar > the words "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the subject of the > message. > > ------------------------------ From: FORDTRKMANinPA Date: Wed, 8 Mar 2000 00:10:32 EST Subject: Re: Ford Engine Recall i have a 99 f150 with the 4.6, my 8th VIN digit is a "W". i guess i am okay then. it's got just over 13000 miles on it, and no knock or pinging so far. the accessory drive belt used to squeal between 10,000 and 12,500, but it has stopped now. it seems to be a greaty engine. nice low end torque too.
