My 99 had the problem, but my y2k does not. There is a TSB to fix it. The wheel torque is 140 to 155 ft/lbs. Standard practice is to set for middle of the range, or 148 ft/lbs. More important than the actual torque value is making sure all lug nuts are the same torque and tightened in the proper sequence. The manual shows a tightening order. I prefer to go one further by torqueing to a mid range value and then finishing up to the spec torque. I haven't had any warped rotor on either truck. The 99 was built in April 98. I believe the y2k has different brakes than the 99. It doesn't happen every time. Almost sounds like the same creaking noise you get when the exhaust system cools down except louder and harsher sounding. I am going in for the 10k checkup next week, but thought someone might have had the same sound solved which would help in my description with the dealer. Thanks, Ian... NEW ! ! ! ! Well today was the day the '97 'Burban 4x4 was sent to be someone elses misery! I thought it might be a few weeks before the Excursion XLT 4x4 v10 made it to the drive way back home after a test session yesterday. After only a few hours of pacing back and forth to sales managers office, deal done, insurance the whole shabang. I was suprised, but not really mom is a great negotiator when it comes to price, lol. She started laughing the first number he brought back. I was surprised when i rode in it, the Excursion really is a tank, i can think of all kind of stuff to put in it. So now my immediate family is ALL FoMoCo!
