The idea that backpressure is needed is an outgrowth of the way hot rods used to be built; when the builders used straight pipes into the atmosphere (much as top fuel dragsters use today), there was a problem with cold air hitting the valve stems, and warping them. With a full exhaust system, there's no way cold air will reach the exhaust valves, so the problem isn't there. Putting on headers, which are designed to use the individual exhaust pulses to help scavange exhaust gasses from the cylinders, adding backpressure is counter-productive. Reducing backpressure to the minimum is the way to go. In the near future, there will be text sponsorship notices at the top of the digests and occasionally we'll run one on the live list for a day. As with the web site banner ads, sponsors will not have influence on content or editorial policy. And, is there a possibility of overheating the headlight assembly? -----Original Message----- From: RICK KANE [mailto:handgun Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2000 7:12 PM To: 97up-list Subject: [97up-list] Re: Brite box The Brite box is the answer to your question, Dennis. They are available for nearly all vehicles I've been told. There are other units priced around $20-$30 for other trucks but I couldn't locate one for the F-250 SD. Other than being pricey ($99) the Brite box is great, and a snap to install. _____________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ========================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to: listar the words "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the subject of the message. ========================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to: listar the words "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the subject of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 08:14:44 -0700 (PDT) From: Jeff Schapker Subject: Re: Sticker????????
