Well yesterday i got my Hypertech chip from drop ship direct from them, I
ordered from Diesel Injection Service in TX, www.dieselpage.com. WOW is all
i can say. What a difference in shifting, part throttle, and top end get
outa my way power. Install time was 1 1/2 takeing my time with the
misleading instructions. (if any one gets one let me know I'll tell you what
you need). I can't wait to put a trailer behind it. Will update mileage
specs next week after my trip to S. FL.

I also found there were about 3-4 different computer codes for a 99PSD when i
ordered,( code is in driverside door jam).

IF anyone want one i highly reccommend calling D.I.S., great guys that dont
feed any b.s.

Why Hypertech over, say Superchip?

Also - I'll vouch for DIS as well. They're well like by the www.ford -diesel. com
crowd.
Bought my a-pillar guage pod and guages, and a bunch of other diesel
related parts. They carry non-diesel parts, as well, but not an extensive list.

Good bunch of folks to deal with.

I'm considering a chip, but am waiting for a larger replacement
tank from transfer flow first :-).

Hello Gents,
Anyone have information on a "Computer Chip" to install in my truck.
Hypertech, Gale Banks or other manufacturing. Questions I have for PSD
owners.

1. How much do the power increase?
2. Fuel mileage increase or decrease (what is you fuel mileage, be
honest?)
3. Did the PSD smoke out the tailpipe more after installing the chip?
4. Transmission shift patterns change?
5. What would you do to enhance performance?

Additional fuel tanks.

Has anyone installed a auxcillary fuel tank, either in the truck bed or in
the frame area adjacent to the factory fuel tank? A frame mounted tank would
be great, as keep it out of the cargo area and I run a topper. Please
discuss transfer pump, if you have any information. Would be nice to have a
little longer fuel range, 50 gals of (total) fuel, 20 gallon auxcillary tank.

Thanks in advance for responding. David Burry - Colorado

In a message dated 99-12-17 14:58:10 EST, you write:

500. vs 240. , you make the call....... superchips says they send some boost
tube along, wooptedo... I have met the guys from Superchips, a bunch of
guys from over the pond. They did a custom chip for a friends jeep, he had
to go back a few times cuz i ran like crapola. Hypertech doesnt get alot of
press but they all make pretty similar stuff.

Hello Gents,
Anyone have information on a "Computer Chip" to install in my truck.
Hypertech, Gale Banks or other manufacturing. Questions I have for PSD
owners.

Banks and superchips overpriced, all you are buying is name, not the
programming.

1. How much do the power increase?

- -a good bit you can pass with ease now, no hesitation. probably 50 hp.

2. Fuel mileage increase or decrease (what is you fuel mileage, be
honest?)

- -will know that by the end of the weekend/

3. Did the PSD smoke out the tailpipe more after installing the
chip?

- -negative, less actually i think

4. Transmission shift patterns change?

- - YES, i think from my experience with racing applications, the auto
transmission will last longer now, especially the OD.

5. What would you do to enhance performance?

- -Exhaust, chip, larger intercooler, sythetics. All depends on how much you
want to spend.

Additional fuel tanks.

Has anyone installed a auxcillary fuel tank, either in the truck bed or in
the frame area adjacent to the factory fuel tank? A frame mounted tank
would
be great, as keep it out of the cargo area and I run a topper. Please

- -If you have a long bed there is a replacement availible. shortys need not
apply

Just to clarify this; not all the programing is the same. Each chip designer
plays around with the parameters until they get it the way they like it. Also,
some chips, like Superchips, work all the time, while Hypertechs only work at WOT.....
