Subject: FTE 97up - engine replacement

I have a 1998 regular cab with the 5.4l engine, the engine will be
replaced by ford in a few days due to piston slap. Can anyone tell me if
the new engine being replaced will be the updated model with the 260 hp and
if the new engines have been redesigned to overcome the problem of piston
slap. Is there a way to tell which engine that is being put into my truck by
markings or id numbers, I appreciate any info that is availlable.
