It was a miserable task. This should have been almost a direct replacement job that would take no longer than an hour. Well, after 3.5 hours of wrestling this thing and 3 calls to their technical support line, I finally ended up taking the partially completed truck and the tailpipe and turnout pipe to a local exhaust shop. We had to cut 9" off the tailpipe and re-bend it where it goes into the muffler to make it fit. It cost $30 to make the modifications so it would work. I think there must be a design problem for the Ford units at Gibson. I sent them a letter detailing the problems. I am curious to see how they respond. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Aug 1999 16:22:12 4 From: "Vaughn (VDB)" Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Gibson Exhaust My brother had to do some cutting also on his 92 Bronco for the Gibson single exit. Check out FLowmaster, Dynomax , Bassani (little pricey but nice) i had their cat back and Y pipe on my F150 (great fit), they have alot of applications. I am glad i dont have a gas truck anymore! :) My 5 in. cat back from Hypermax fit pretty good, all we had to do is cut pipe to length we wanted for our app., they give you enough straight for a Crew cab long bed it looks like. Also has to reposition the spare tire a bit so it wouldnt be on top of it. Other than that the 5in Diesel '99 PSD kit is all welded together bends, no kinks from a tube bender. Actually, because you have more explosions per crankshaft revolution, the sound is different from a V-8. Kind of like an airplane engine instead of a "burble". Really nice, though.
