Ford has announced rebates on some 2000 Models.

Windstar $750
Ranger $500
Econoline $500
F-650/750 $1000
F-150 gets 6.9% APR for 3 years, 7.9/4 and 8.9 for 5 (although this is
nothing really special.)

Wow, your truck weighs in at 7700lbs! Well that
would account for 2,000lbs over my F-150. But
I tow over 7,000lbs with my SC 5.4L (automatic)
and have not had any real problems with power.
I have 3.55:1 gears and 255/70 16 tires. I leave
OD off for the most part. This usually places the
engine in the 2300-2800 rpm range on the highway.

I don't know your shifting habits with the 5 speed,
but I would check the engine rpms
when you feel it lacks power. If your lugging
it around at 1500-2000 rpm with a load like
that, a hill would be a problem.

i have a 99 f-150 4.6L v-8 3.55 reg axle sc auto 4x2. i have an 83
glassmate fish-n-ski boat. it weighs around 3500lbs(boat+trailer) my truck
seems to have no problem pulling it. it doesn't accelerate really fast, but
it's a truck pulling a boat, it's not made for drag racing. the truck has
around 4500mi on it. it has definitely gotten more power since being brand
new(5 miles). i have p275/70R16 (i think) tires. it's got the sport package.
not what i wanted, but the truck just like it w/out the sport pack was in
corpus christi texas, and i didn't want to wait for it to be shipped. the
sport pack costs 1,000.00 extra. but i paid about 2,000.00 below sticker
price.
all in all, i love it. it might not be as big as a gm truck it's size. but
it's a ford damn it, and ford trucks are the best trucks made!!

speaking of gm trucks, i rode in a 99 silverado with the 4.8L ext. cab the
bigger cab isn't that much bigger than ford's. the cab setup makes it look
that way from the outside. i'm 6'6" and i didn't have much more room than
in the ext cab of my truck.

the silverado did seem quicker than my truck, but it had 3.73 axle too, so
that has some to do with it.

sorry to write a book
