Nathan had mention that the 450 would have the spare under the frame? The
450 uses the straight and narrow frame for mounting Aux bodies? Is the
spare mounted midship then? Where the tank normal goes. Don't think there
is room between frame rails for the tire. I would really like to know
because I was considering a cab/chassis 350 but didn't think the spare had
any place to go.

The Spare should be tucked under the frame fairly tight and not affect
ground clearance.

Subject: FTE 97up - CD stacker mounting position

Ok, this is a real silly question and reveals me to be the
commuter-in-a-truck whus that I am (but I'm too tall to commute in a
car, so give me a break :-). The F150 I just bought has a 6-CD stacker
in it, installed in the arm rest cavity of the extended cab's back seat,
behind the driver's seat. This has two drawbacks. One, I can't reach it
without getting out of the truck, folding the drivers seat forward and
torquing my upper body into the back. Two, my kids sitting in the back
bench find this an irresistable plaything. Since I've seen the stacker
installed in the center console of the Expedition, is there any reason I
can't have it moved there in my F-150? I have the captain's chairs, so
it has a fixed and spacious center console well that seems able to
accomodate it.

Can the service department be expected to be able to make this change?

Thanks,
Kevin

My 99 F350 didn't come with a spare either. I had checked Kelly Blue Book's
web page for information when shopping for the truck and it said that a
spare was standard, but that was wrong. The dealer was nice enough to order
the carrier and wheel for me at dealer cost. The local Firestone dealer has
the stock tires available. My total cost is less than $300 which is about
what the spare tire option costs on a factory order. The wheel should be in
this week and I already installed the carrier. It's a snap to install.

Spare tire, ha. My 1998 F250 SD
diesel came with a full size spare. I
just went out side to look at the window sticker, "spare tire & wheel

It also came with a wire rope & lock. the salesman
did not know where the key was to the lock!. I told him I will call
him when I get a flat :)
