Re: FTE 97up - How High?? Re: FTE 97up - How High?? Re: FTE 97up - How High?? FTE 97up - cheyenne slack ======================================================================= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 18 Jul 1998 10:42:50 -0500 From: "Union Auto" Subject: FTE 97up - Rebates OK the rebates changed on the 7th of July. Most things (APR and Customer cash) stayed the same. The Customer Appreciation rebate was discontinued (unless you already had something ordered). They are doing some strange dealer cash rebates. On Windstar their is $500 rebate to the dealer, and Grand Marquis and Crown Vic have $750 to the dealer. Their is also a program for F-Series LD, Windstar (in addition to $500), Ranger, Explorer, Expedition, Econoline, Escort, Contour, and their Mercury counterparts. This program has $350 dealer cash (per vehicle) and can go up from their based on Sales percentages. Confusing huh? Lots of pep and throttle response. Firms up shift points and raised the speed limiter. I'd be willing to sell you mine. I'm trying to sell my truck and also have the Borla Cat-back and K&N Filter for sale. - ------------- Original Text From: "jmc.chartier" , on 7/18/98 12:07 AM: MICHAEL P SCHAFFER wrote: > Would like some advice on which chip would provide the best possible > overall performance and reliability for the F-150 4.6L automatic trans. > with the trailer towing package? I tried a Jet chip but it would not go any faster than 97 mph, same as stock. I also like to play in the sand dunes and I found that climbing the hills would push the rpm to the 5500 limit and bump against it. Superchips programmed a chip that not only removed the top speed limiter but moved the revlimiter to 6500 rpm. I have no dyno figures to back me up but the Superchips seems to have more power at midrange over the Jet. At the time of my superchips purchase Hyperetech had no chip available but since then have one that would only increase the speed limit 5-10mph and would not increase the revlimiter. So don't tow more than 5K with your bumper, but a class III hitch should raise your towing to probably the 7000 pounds. Chad WiNk wrote: > > The book says that my truck can handle 7,000. My 95 Ram makes it by 6 inches, and I know the SD is higher, but how much?? It makes no mention of tire size. The Committee trucks are all 99s too. I was the white one with the little popup camper and Wyoming plates parked near the sand colored one and just down the row from that bright purple one Randy if you werre going to go 4 wheeling it,I"ll tell you alrready I"ve given this 250 lots of chances and so far its done all you can ask. Just give it a little more acceleration for people like me who are used to driving the Dodge(is that a dirty D word?) The Ford does not have the power in the low speeds so once in a while I kill it by not being in a low enough gear but its just a matter of getting used to it. I have one gripe; I wish there was an indicator as to what gear I'm in/ Those gears are so close together on the six speed. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ....
