My F250 4x4 CC PSD with 800 miles on it got 18.2 mph. This is absolutely flat land but with the a/c cranking and I did not take it easy(65-75 mph). I could not be happier with that milage. It is 82% better then my old 454 chevy John == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Jul 1998 09:00:11 -0500 From: Randy Robb Subject: FTE 97up - Re: PSD Fuel Economy The F450 - F550 does come with the 4.88 axle ratio. But they also come with 225/70Rx19.5 tires. == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Jul 1998 12:20:54 -0500 From: Randy Robb Subject: FTE 97up - Re: PSD Fuel Economy Actually 2400 rpm at 65 is mathematically correct. Tire size is 225/70R 19.5 Formula to determine radius of tire: ((((225 * .70) * 2)/ 25.4) + 19.5) * 3.142 = 100.234 inches per rotation [sect.][aspect][side-][mm to][wheel][pie] [width][ratio] [walls][inch ][size ] 63360 / 100.234 = 632.116 tire revolutions per mile [in /] [rev /] [mi. ] [in. ] Formula to determine drive ratio: (4.88 * .72) = 3.513 engine revolutions per 1 axle revolution [axle ][trans] [ratio][ratio] Formula to determine engine RPM: ((632.116 * 3.513) / 60) * speed = [tire rev /][engine][time][speed] [mile ][rev ] 1665 rpm 1850 rpm 2035 rpm 2221 rpm 2406 rpm 2591 rpm 2776 rpm This does not factor in the weight of truck and cargo flattening the tires, so actual rpms would be slightly higher. == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jul 1998 19:16:20 -0600 From: "Kevin Hutchinson" Subject: FTE 97up - Tire Pressure Question Hi, I've got a 98 F150 4x4 with about 500 miles on it. The tires on are the P255 Goodyear Wrangler's and when I got the truck the tire pressure was set at about 40 psi cold. I looked at the tire itself and it said 35 psi max cold. When I checked the sticker in the door, it says 29 psi front and I think it was 32 rear. My question is which is correct? I did back the tries off to 35 psi, but at 29 for the front the tires almost look flat. (yes my tire guage is acturate). Thanks, Kevin == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ End of 97up-list-digest V1 #137 ******************************* +------ Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1997 and Newer Trucks and Vans ------+ | Send posts to 97up-list To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
