I think you really got Ripped off. I usually do it myself at a fraction of the cost, but I had the truck in for the new Air box and figured it would look good for the service record to have it done this time. Subject: Re: FTE 97up - New Truck Good question, that may be the missing link, they were on my 4x4 from the factory, and when offroading, they are a necessity. I clogged mine up with mud so badly that when it froze, I ripped the gaskets off when opening the door. I can only imagine the mess that would have ended up in the cab if they weren't there. >Are the door rubbers suppose to be on the 2 and 4 wheel >drive models or just the 4 WD. > > == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Apr 1999 01:05:36 EDT From: FISHNG1 Subject: Re: FTE 97up - New Airbox I went to the dealer today to pick up my truck which had been in for a few TSB's. One of them was TSB 99-6-4 which finally (after getting the earlier one done already) makes mine like the 99.5 style. It also seemed to get rid of the louder whistling sound that appeared with the first air box fix. Part # F81Z-9B249-BBKIT-MODULE Part # XC3Z-9K635-AAAIR CLNR KIT They also changed the Fuel regulator as stated by TSB 98-17-16 even though they stated that they could not verify a problem with it. I had asked them to check all the Turbo bolts too, as one was actually all the way out and just hanging there when I brought it in. This was there response: "Inspected Turbo & could not verify any bolts falling out. Checked for bolt tightness. All tight. Road Tested & only heard normal turbo whine/whistle." I opened the hood at the dealers to check this and guess what? The bolt that was out, was now in and tight! Sounds kind of silly to me, why didn't they just write that? Well, I am happy to have my truck back, funny how you can miss a truck!
