It has been installed now for about a month, so I thought I would post to the list my results. I do not have access to a drag strip or dyno so, all I can give is my opinions. I can't say if it increased horsepower or not but, I did notice a nice difference in the feel of shifting. It just shifts smoother than it used to. I filled the tank up previous to the install and after filling it up again, I can say that it did increase MPG. I saw and continue to see about an increase of 2 - 2.5 MPG. In my opinion that is pretty good. I finally decided it was time to put a K&N Filter in, it seems like they make a nice combination of upgrades. My only dislike about the Gibson , is that the u-bolts are not stainless or even plated, they rusted solid in about a week. So if you feel the way I do about that, you need to take into consideration the extra cost of putting stainless, galvanized, or plated u-bolts on, and add that to the price of the system. For those of you that are interested in the sound, it is not loud, but it does change the sound from stock to a mellower tone. Under load or acceleration you hear a nice rumble in the cab. I am sure it would sound really nice if you put it on a V8. Sorry for rambling on. I hope this is useful to someone. I didn't loose my smile, but was disappointed. I spent over 30 years working in a Ford Motor assembly plant. I fully understand its impossible for every unit going out the factory door to be 100%. However I also understand when a given model is in demand and numbers out the factory door are important the likelihood things gone wrong will increase. Many times the reason for this has nothing to do with the person on the line assembling the unit. Outside parts suppliers are also run to the limit trying to make enough parts to supply the plant. READ THE FOLLOWING: many times vendor parts are not perfect, (mounting holes off location, bent parts in a rack) in an effort to keep the numbers flowing out the factory door, parts are reworked, bent parts repaired on the factory floor. God and I both know, if its the last part in a box and its bend, you install it, "YOU DO NOT STOP THE LINE" Sorry Big 3 if I stepped on any toes in the front office, but if you don't beleive this, you spend to much time in your office and not enough time on the factory floor. When the Big 3 start requiring the boys in the front office come from the factory floor and work there way to the top and not out the college door and into the office. Then maybe things will change. Go to a parking with speed bumps or some place with potholes and take somebody with you who can look at the guages. Maybe even have the fan and stereo on. As you go over the bumps does the radio and fan cut out along with the motor? If so my guess is you have a loose electrical connection somewhere. If the radio and fan don't cut out I still think you have a electrical problem. If you can't find it make one of the mechanics go for a ride with you. good luck joe Dave Sturtze wrote: > Just got my 99 SD SC LB 4x4 V10 back from the service dept after > developing a problem with what I think is the computer. My order was placed (F-250, SD, CC, PS), July 14,1998 and a build order was finally given the 3rd week of Jan. 99, I finally took delivery 3/4/99. I really like everything about it except manual trailer tow mirrors, I thought they telescoped in or out " wrong". Last week I added a skirted 9" drop bumper and a grill guard made by Kasper Ranch Gear out of Shiner Texas. Now no more worries about deer crossing the highway in front of me or tail-gaters. I looked at 3 or 4 other manufacturers equipment but for quality, materials and workmanship their's was tops. I think their number is 800-337-0610 if you have such needs. Good luck and patience. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 1999 01:04:21 EST From: RSnovi Subject: Re: FTE 97up - 400 HP V-10 In a message dated 99-03-20 22:25:26 EST, you write: also i am pretty sure that Vortech has a S trim Kit in development if not already out. Now, Paxton Automotive is pleased to introduce the Novi 2000 Ford F-350 V10 kit. Like other Paxton Automotive supercharger kits, this heat-treated helical-cut gear driven Novi 2000 kit comes with a billet aluminum mounting bracket, hardware and everything necessary for a professionally looking installation. Originally developed to assist with heavy-towing, horsepower increases from 275 to an amazing 400, a 60% increase! Installation time is approximately six hours, following Paxton Automotive's detailed installation manual and like all of Paxton Automotive's products, this application is 50-state legal. No price is mentioned but withthe novi I'm sure its high. I guess I'll start asking my wife if I can waste our money. pk == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: Received: from rly-yd02.mx.aol.com (rly-yd02.mail.aol.com [172.18.150.2]) by air-yd02.mx.aol.com (v58.13) with SMTP; Sat, 20 Mar 1999 22:25:26 -0500 Received: from ford-trucks.com (ford-trucks.com [192.41.63.203]) by rly-yd02.mx.aol.com (8.8.8/8.8.5/AOL-4.0.0) with ESMTP id WAA17408; Sat, 20 Mar 1999 22:25:19 -0500 (EST) Received: (fordtruc 20 Mar 1999 22:21:44 -0500 (EST) Received: from ntserver1pak.prudhoe-bay.dowell.slb.com ([163.185.163.140]) by ford-trucks.com (8.8.5) id WAA15122; Sat, 20 Mar 1999 22:21:22 -0500 (EST) X-Authentication-Warning: ford-trucks.com: Host [163.185.163.140] claimed to be ntserver1pak.prudhoe-bay.dowell.slb.com Received: from lab-pak.prudhoe-bay.dowell.slb.com (dhcp133.prudhoe-bay.dowell.slb.com [163.185.163.133]) by ntserver1pak.prudhoe-bay.dowell.slb.com (Post.Office MTA v3.5.2 release 221 ID# 0-57311U4000L4000S0V35) with SMTP id com for ; Sat, 20 Mar 1999 18:19:25 -0900 Message-Id: bay.dowell.slb.com> X-Sender: Klein X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Pro Version 4.1 Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 18:18:40 -0900 To: 97up-list From: Perry Klein Subject: FTE 97up - 400 HP V-10 In-Reply-To: References: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-97up-list Precedence: bulk Reply-To: 97up-list >> == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info http://www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 22:49:58 -0800 From: JJ Thomas Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Bob Mosso Holy Ouch!!!
