Eddie, where did you get the Wet Okoles for your Expedition? I did a search
and all I came up with was some for a Miata. I'm looking for a seat cover
for my '99 F250SD Crew cab's back seat to protect the leather from my dogs
nails. Anyone with ideas? TIA

I ran into a person over the Xmas holidays in the Keys that said he was in
charge of the Navstar-Ford program. he said that the Excursion would be out
this spring and that it would be priced mid forties.

Subject: FTE 97up - Disc Brake Squeal

I have a 1999 F250 LD 5.4L 4x4 Lariat. I have about 2000 miles on it now but
I have had a squeal in one of the rear wheel disc brakes since about 200
miles. The brake squeals with moderate pressure on the brake pedal but not
with light or heavy pressure. Is this a problem that will cause damage to the
disk/calipers? Have I gone too long without getting it fixed? If not, how
long can I go without getting it fixed? Thank you in advance.

Subject: FTE 97up - K&N GP status update

Sorry if you see this twice... or are tired of this subject. :-)

Dennis at Internet Racer's Supply ordered the FIPK sets from
K&N around the 15th and expects to get them in sometime the
middle of this week. He will process the orders (bill credit cards)
and ship as soon as he gets them in. He had one in stock
and I was the first to order so mine's installed already. :-)

Anyway, thanks to everyone who participated - we got a screamin
deal. I'd like to do a cat-back exhaust system GP also, but
doubt there'd be enough participants (based on the overall lack
of enthusiasm on the K&N GP).

Subject: FTE 97up - Power Stroke Airboxes.

Ford has changed the airboxes again on the 1999 Power Stroke trucks. Trucks
built after Dec 7th have a new air box that takes the air from the grille
area. There will be a TSB to change the older trucks to this style in a
couple of months. The reason for this is that the fender intake can pick up
snow and plug the air filter.

Subject: FTE 97up - Update on Fix - 5.4L startup knock/piston slap

For all you 5.4L start up knock/piston slap sufferers: My Ford dealer
called me today to tell me Ford will be sending him info on a fix later
this week. Apparently they will be installing new "retrofit pistons"
which is supposed to fix the problem. I picked up my new 300HP
Navigator today so I gave him the keys to the Expy and told him to call
me when it was fixed.

Subject: FTE 97up - ADMIN: 1 Million visitors

Hi gang!

Its official! Just compiled the January logs and we
had our one millionth visitor to the Ford Truck
Enthusiasts web site late in the month. In our first
year, we had slightly over 100,000 visitors and over
900,000 in the second year.

Our monthly visitor growth has been about 19% since we
started. Current list membership hovers around 4,000.
Many had privately expressed a concern this past summer
about FTE's ability to handle the growth. We've taken
steps which we believe have been successful:

- - The BBS has offset the mailing list growth and made it
manageable. Hit and run subscribers aren't as common
anymore.

- - The new classifieds are not only far more powerful,
they also require less of my time.

- - The new chat is virtually maintenance free (although
its difficult to use the first time around).

- - Ordering on the web site means I don't have to spend
time each evening checking the PO box (now we check on
Tuesdays and Saturdays). This has been very important
because cash flow was suffering again and we needed to
pay for the classifieds software and server upgrades
(the load is getting huge, close to 200,000 file hits
per day). Our costs have gone way up lately.

Pictorial submissions have gone way up recently too, with
as many as 10 pictorial submissions per week!

Look for more additions to our content as we continue to
grow. Thank you to everyone for making FTE the community
it has become! You're really a great bunch! Hope to
meet some of you at the Pigeon Forge Supernationals.
