I am looking for the following parts for my 1997 F250HD ext cab 4x4 power
stroke 1-set of factory steps, 1-heavy tint sliding factory window,
1-overhead console for 97 bronco in gray. I am in the philadelphia pa area
and have had no luck.

I heard on the radio that the EPA will institute new Regs on SUV Emissions
very soon. Could you gather the information and post it to the FTE97up
newsgroup? I hope that is does not put a hold on the introduction of the
Excursion.

Thank you,

Scott Matus

Rob, I think that the speed is measured in the Rear Diff. I openend mine to
install fresh synthetic lube and on the Ring gear there is a toothed ring
that spins past the sensor. The 99SD trucks need a speedo recalibration
constant. Nathan can you verify this for us?

Scott.

The Excusion with a Power Stroke is on hold until 8/23/99. We don't get a
reason why, but I'd guess its the transmission change.

A couple of times mine has done the '0 miles to empty' but goes back to
normal soon. The part about 'not for diesels' is BS.

Windows to that but not the radio.

Are you saying that the dealer can't supply those parts or are you looking
for used?
Reason I asked is that the manufactureres are committed by law to maintain
parts inventory for any automobile they make for some period of time after
manufacture, I think 10 years but it may be less. You are well within
thatboundry. Not cheap that route but a guaranteed source.

There are some used auto/truck parts sources on the net. I stumbled across
them looking for drive train parts for my Blazer. Try a search engine like
yahoo, but don't give up after the first try, search under every arcane
combination of phrases that you think will work.

good luck

Let me recommend:
www.dogpile.com
it uses all the search engines at once, if it's out there, this will find it.

Great question. Installing the radio was a piece of cake as there are
plenty of ways to access power and lots of ways to hang it, but the
antenna.... that's another matter.

I ended up with a larson dual band window mount which I mounted about 1/2
way down the rear window. I can then swap the antenna for a 1/4 wave
(shorter) antenna to compensate for underground parking garages. Since I am
in town much of the time, and there are plenty of repeaters in my area, it
works fine. When I head for the mountains or other location where clearance
is not a problem I unscrew the 1/4 wave and install the regular antenna.
Seems to work great.

The only other option, without going through sheet metal, is a hood mount,
but I hate the looks.

Let me know what you find. There may be a better way.

No, it won't hold-up anything, even the Excursion (or the Chevy "Suburpin").
The big SUVs have until 2009 to comply, so all you need to do is save up and
then buy a couple of them in 2008.

FWIW, all Ford's '99+ SUV's are concidered low emissions vehicles (LEV) by
the People's Republic of Kalifornia (of which I am an unfortunate resident).
So it seems that they shouldn't have a problem now or in 2009. And FWIW,
with this certification, the Excursion should pollute less than the vehicle
that currently holds a monopoly in this class.

What's so unfortunate about living in Cali.? Great weather, beautiful
scenery, and great highways. Not to mention the Pacific Coast Highway. I
guess you would rather give it all up for more horsepower.
