(Many thanks to those on this list that helped me get to this conclusion.) I have also ordered the Aux Idle control w/PTO, but need a few questions filled, before I pester the dealership. I believe there is a hold until august for the full function Aux. Idle Control. Question#1 - Do you know what are the differences between the Full function and the limited function Aux Idle control? Question#2- In the event the full function is really on hold, is there a limited function AIC available now? thanks, -john For those that want to know what the AIC is... (from Jasons PS page http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.abol.com/users/jlester/) The Aux Powertrain Control is actually a seperate add-on unit that plugs into existing wiring harness (connector is located at bottom center of dash between trailer brake control connector and PCM diagnostic connector) that allows you to enter a pre-selected fast idle rpm and ramp up rate. Once the engine is started, the speed will slowly (or fast depending on pre-set value) ramp up to set rpm allowing for faster warm up or for use with PTO, charging of external batteries such as on trailer, etc...Ford has an Aux Powertrain Control module (fast idle control) for the Powerstroke as an LPO option (961) I manily use it to help in warm up and keep the engine warm. This morning it was -19F and wind chill of -60F, just a normal idle of 645rpm the engine was really cold. I set the aux idle for1300rpm and it warmed up nicely and kept the truck warm. = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 97up-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 05 May 1998 16:29:47 -0700 From: jdb Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Build dates I ordered my F-350 Supercab 4X4 V-10 on March 5 and supposedly it was built yesterday. Forwarded to all the lists for: From: Gary Callahan Please cc all replies to him! Thanks. I live in southern California and have been a member of this list for over six months now. I have enjoyed it very much. I have posted questions and replied to other postings. I have an idea I'd like to put forth for concideration. I think it would be great fun to get together with other members of this list for a weekend outing. I think we could pick one of the trips from Harry Lewellyn's "glovebox" book on backroad trips in southern California or if anyone knows of another good day trip in the area. I think it would be best to limit it to a one-day event for now. We could all meet at a predetermined location, drive the scenic backroads to a nice spot for a potluck lunch, then home a different route. Let me know what you all think of this idea. After all the Jeep owners have their Jeep Jamboree. Why can't we have a gathering as well. Send (or post) your thoughts to me soon, the summer will be over before you know it. For quickest response reply to my e-mail at work. They do not even mention the full function in the ordering guides so I don't know what the difference is. If anyone remembers the ordering code number for it (I threw my old ordering guide away) I can see if they have an estimated hold date. Also the 961 Ltd Idle control is not available on a Lariat, so I would for see the full function available this summer. Check this out. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.meadowlandford.com/pdf/84.pdf or http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.meadowlandford.com/ and look for the builders guide link.
