I will repeat it once more, I sent out the first request a little over an hour ago: When replying to long messages, please trim down the original post. This reduces the email load on the server, reduces the archive space needed and is generally considered a nice thing to do. Quoting 140 lines of a post with a 5 line reply is not acceptable. For the most part your comments are backed with little to no fact and useless to the general audience as anything more than space filler. Frankly, and I can only speak for myself, it would be appreciated if you would please leave your opinion and personal attacks at home. > -----Original Message----- > From:WiNk [SMTP:invesys > Sent:Friday, June 05, 1998 12:15 PM > To:97up-list > Subject:Re: FTE 97up - RECALL > > CHad, > I don't disagree with you but I really do think that you should use the > DELETE key vice your jaw. > == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Jun 1998 10:34:45 -0700 From: WiNk Subject: Re: FTE 97up - ADMIN: TRIM POSTS! Ken, Thanks for the reminder. As you probably noticed I asked for email responses rather than using this list for an off topic discussion that I probably started. I really do appreciate it because I have learned that it is easier to use the DELETE key in all the other message bases that I use. I must say too, that the good list are made up of members that have learned the same procedure. I have to apologize for bringing a topic into the message base that most people are probably not famitiar with, thereby ticking them off rather than helping them. I suppose that I should use the DELETE key for all of the responses to all of my messages that are responded too by the list members. So much for Ford and it's QUALITY is JOB ONE program. :-) Shumard, Keith (SHUMARKJ) wrote: > Wink, > > Do you realize that out of 21 messages in this thread 8 of them are > from you? Conger letter. To not bore the member I will only include the part I am replying to Mr. Shane O. Conger writes I always get a loaner when I take my vehicle in for service or any reason. I never drive a service department loaner either. I go directly to the salesman who I buy from and he either gives me one off the lot or the one he is driving. I have driven 2 Mustang GT's and an Explorer and a Probe GT and a Taurus SHO. I have bought 5 vehicles from him since 1993 and have sent him 4 other customers. Some people can not buy 5 vehicle in 5 years. I personally buy one usually every 8 year or more. I currently drive 1989 vehicle with more than 174,000 miles and my wife and children have a 1998 Club Wagon. You do get good handling if you are making the sales person money. I am different I make the Service department and Parts department money. I do believe that Parts and Service are the only growing profit centers for most dealerships. I personal buy from the dealer who services my vehicle the best and I can send my wife to and not get taken. (Had a minor brake problem and a garge turned it into a 500.00 brake job.) It took about 30 minutes to order my Club Wagon and 45 minutes to pick it up but I will see the Service and Parts people for the next 10 years or more. I believe this subject is now officially beaten to death. == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Jun 1998 11:37:38 -0700 From: "Harald" Subject: FTE 97up - RE: Ranger leak I'm not familiar with the Ranger, but my 1990 Ford F150 had a leak that confounded me for months. I thought it was the cargo light (where your third brake light would be) or a door seal or the rear window. What it finally ended up being was a welded seam in the rain gutter above the drivers door. A little clear RTV fixed the problem. I'd going to look into things like that, could you be a little more specific (a broken weld or a gap in the sheet metal, etc.) since my Ranger has internal rain rutters (aero style?). Please respond in private if you wish. I took a friend and his family to a 'difficult driving area' here in San Diego, and managed to get into a situation where I was going uphill with a pretty major rut under the left front wheel and another under the right rear wheel, and water flowing through the ruts. While we were setting up the 'come-along' around a tree and I was digging trenches away from the front wheels, my friend noticed that the back wheel in the rut was turning and taking up the power from the engine and the rear wheel that was up and on dry ground was just sitting there. Evidently the 'limited slip' function of the rear differential had expired. This truck, which has only 1800 miles on it, is still under warranty. I brought it in to my favorite mechanic today to get the oil changed (as it was pretty black even with only 1800 miles on it) and told him about the differential. He put it on the lift and determined that indeed the limited slip function was probably gone. He recommended bringing the truck to the Ford dealer and having them determine if indeed it needed service (replacement?). Any of you have similar experiences? - Stephen Witte F350 crew cab 4x4 460CID 5spd 2 months old. == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Jun 1998 21:46:45 -0400 From: Lou Mallia Subject: FTE 97up - Dimensions of 1999 F-250 Super Duty Extended Cab 4x4 Short Bed Could someone please direct me to a source for (or provide) the height, width, and length of the 1999 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 Extended Cab Short Bed truck? It includes Rangers, Bronco IIs, Explorers and Aerostars. Ranger posts are more appropriate on those groups. Ken Payne CoAdmin, Ford Truck Enthusiasts....
