Expeditions? I can't find any anywhere. I understand there is a new grill

You just gotta love showing somebody up, and then turning around and
doing it again! And the V-10 isn't really a mid-range engine. It
does have more horses and torque than the 460 it replaced.

Recently I placed an order for a 1999 F350 PSD with a local
dealership. At that time I received a printout labeled "VEHICLE ORDER
CONFIRMATION." Everything appears to be correct as far as the desired
model and options being specified. What I am wondering is whether
there is anything else I should request from the dealer to verify that
everything is in order. They are saying it will probably take 3 to 4
months to get the truck (but they aren't making any promises.) I
would hate to find out 4 months from now that something got screwed up
and have to start all over again.

Is the 5.4 enough power? Sure.
But let's ask youself some additional questions:

- - how much load will you carry or tow? now or in the future?
- - Will you be driving flat, hills, city streets?
- - Is performance an issue - never, sometimes, all the time?
Unloaded, loaded...

- - Is fuel economy an issue.?
- - Is fuel cost an issue?
- - Is engine longevity an issue?
- - Is drive train longevity an issue?
- - Is engine cost/maintennance cost an issue.?
- - How cost sensitive are you now?

When you finally answer these questions, you'll get yourself
into a long way on figuring out the engine, transmission, and final gear ratio.
You'll get way better answers vs. questions too :-).

Oh, and don't forget the Power Stroke engine :-). Too much
fun...

I got in 1999 brochures for Ranger, Expedition, Explorer, Windstar,
Econoline, Taurus, Escort, and Crown Vic today. (F-150 came in earlier).
Most dealers should have them or get them in the next week or so.

Has anyone replaced their chrome side mirrors with color keyed mirrors to
match their trucks color? This is an option with the special appearance
package. If so, can you just replace the chrome or do you have to replace
the entire mirror?

I work for Perimeter Ford and if you want a full brochure give me your address
and I'll UPS you one ASAP. The new grill is larger,the bumper is more car
like and the fog lights are smaller. On the inside they changed the doors and
the radio display is diffrent. Other than that it is the same. Oh, they also
offer diffrent style wheels in '99.

Subject: FTE 97up - ADMIN: Anti-SPAM

A vendor has just recently cruised by our site and harvested email
addresses from the pictorial and is sending unsolicited email (spam)
to list members. They've just been chastised about it. If it
continues, I'll announce who they are to the lists so you'll know
who to stay away from.

Last night, an automated web email address harvester hit our site
and nearly brought it down. I fought with the stupid thing for 4
hours because it was stuck cycling through our shopping cart pages.
The web logs were building up faster than I could remove them.

Due to these two recent episodes, I'm going to revert back to a
policy I used to have on the web site: all email addresses on the
site will now have *spam-remove* in the middle of the address. This
will help prevent address harvesting.

I just did some investigation and found who hit our server last night.
Check this out..... and read it all before you send any nasty email
to the spammer if you're one of the recipients.

Our logs indicated that IP 209.67.161.130 was the culprit. I did a
lookup and that resolved to globalpac.com

The spammer, John's F100s, was using kminet.net for the email server.
Did a lookup on kminet.net and guess what? Its hosted by globalpac.com!

Do not jump down John's F100s for this. They were, in many ways, a
victim, just like Ford Truck Enthusiasts and many of the list members.
The email address harvester from kminet.net caused major damage to my
shopping cart database and its going to take a while to rebuild.
Kminet.net is getting billed for all my time fighting off their attack.

I just got done talking to Diana Wall, of John's F100s. She was
pretty distraught. She was told by the marketers at kminet.net that
the mailing list they provided contained addresses of people who had
requested Ford truck products. As is sometimes the case, an innocent
victim can have their reputation ruined by the deceit of a spam
company. Diana had no idea that kminet.net just harvested the addresses
from our site, and who knows how many other Ford truck sites. She
didn't know it was spam, she thought the people wanted the emails.

For the record, Diana extends her deepest apologies. She offered to
email the people who were spammed but was afraid that it might make
matters worse. John's F100 has a good reputation in the classic
Ford truck community and I don't think this incident should change
that. Please send complaints to kminet.net as they are the true culprits.
I'm preparing an invoice right now to kminet.net for all the time I
spent last night fighting this off.

I am eventually planning to get an F-150 and had a question about
engine/transmission combos. Why is the 5.4L engine offered with an auto
only? It will probally be a couple of years until I get a new truck, so I
was hoping maybe it would be offered by then. I'm not really interested
in a lightning, since I would like a supercab. I have always liked manual....
