The local Ford dealer (Audobon Ford) wants 66.00 just to investigate if the "module" is capable of doing it. He says some 97s have it, some don't. I still pay either way! I have the remote locking feature, which I understand also would feature the Automatic Locking Doors. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 08:54:10 -0500 From: Steven_Bonds Subject: RE: FTE 97up - Re: Automatic Door Locks Try this procedure. Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 14:49:32 -0500 From: Steven_Bonds Subject: RE: Auto Door Locks -Reply I found this on page 37 of my 1998 manual. Deactivating/activating the autolock feature Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all vehicle doors are closed. You must complete steps 1-5 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds. 1. Turn the ignition key to ON. 2. Press the power door unlock control three times. 3. Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF. 4. Press the power door unlock control three times. 5. Turn the ignition back to ON. The horn will chirp. 6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated. 7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete. I hope this helps, my truck does not have this feature so I could not test it. I also have a '98 model hopefully the procedure is the same for the '97. Steven '98 F150 XLT Reg cab. BTW even though they don't fit togeather I'm pleased with the quality of this Lund product...I think that a packaging error has occurred at the Lund factory and they are shipping styleside side rails in the flareside package. - -- R.C.Thomson Hillside Mira,N.S. My recently purchased 1997 Eddie Bauer demonstrator didn't have them activated and the dealer wanted to charge me just to investigate and see if it COULD be done on that early model. I tried Steven's instructions and it worked the first time!!!! Secure at last. Thanks again Steven!!! == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ End of 97up-list-digest V1 #190 ******************************* +------ Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1997 and Newer Trucks and Vans ------+ | Send posts to 97up-list....
