I'm looking for the instructions (Shop manual Section 501-14B pages 3-4) to
activate my 97 Expedition's Automatic door locks. The local Ford dealer
(Audobon Ford) wants 66.00 just to investigate if the "module" is capable of
doing it. He says some 97s have it, some don't. I still pay either way!
I have the remote locking feature, which I understand also would feature the
Automatic Locking Doors.

I found this on page 37 of my 1998 manual.
Deactivating/activating the autolock feature
Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all
vehicle doors are closed.
You must complete steps 1-5 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to
be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30
seconds.
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to ON. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long
chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the
procedure is complete.

I hope this helps, my truck does not have this feature so I could not test
it. I also have a '98 model hopefully the procedure is the same for the '97.

I decided three weeks ago to put a cover on my 98 f150 flareside and
have had nothing but problems since.I order the cover through the local
Ford dealership and they have (so far) order three from Lund that have
not fit.The problem as far as I can see is that the cross pieces are to
long to fit in between the side rails. These side rails are straight and
I feel they should be slightly curved (like the sides of my truck
bed).Another cover is on it's way after having been inspected up the
line to make sure it goes togeather.I'm concerned that Lund has made
this one fit by cutting the cross pieces.I need to know if the side
rails for the flareside are supposed to be curved or straight on these
covers.

BTW even though they don't fit togeather I'm pleased with the quality of
this Lund product...I think that a packaging error has occurred at the
Lund factory and they are shipping styleside side rails in the flareside
package.

A great big THANK YOU to Steven_Bonds dell.com for sending me the instructions
from his 1998 owners manual for resetting the Automatic Door Locks. My
recently purchased 1997 Eddie Bauer demonstrator didn't have them activated
and the dealer wanted to charge me just to investigate and see if it COULD be
done on that early model.

I tried Steven's instructions and it worked the first time!!!! Secure at
last.

Thanks again Steven!!!
