FDAF assessment stands for Ford Dealers Advertising Fund. It is a regional
charge so that different areas can run ads and specials (no charge
bedliners, lower intrest than normal, bigger rebates, etc.) to move the
products that sell (or aren't selling) in their area. This fee varies
slightly ($125 on a 99 F-150 in KC region) by region and by vehicle line.
There is no way to get out of this fee unless you have a fleet ID (have 11
vehicles).

They quit installing the plugs because most people had a different plug or
needed the wires rerouted to the box for 5th wheels. They still sell the
plug to be put on if you want that style.

Subject: FTE 97up - 1999 Super Duty F-350 Height Question

I am about to order a 1999 F-350 SuperCab 4x4 DRW with the Powerstroke
diesel and I have a question about the vehicle's height. The Ford
literature specifies the cab height for this truck as 81.2 inches. If
this is accurate then I should have no problem getting it in my garage
since the door opening is 83 inches. Being this close I am concerned
that if the actual truck is higher by only a small amount then it
won't fit. Does anyone know if Ford's height specification is
accurate or if the height can vary from truck to truck? I am also
planning to order the truck with all terrain tires if that matters. I
would think that since the specification is for a truck with the
standard 5.4L engine that the truck might actually sit slightly lower
with the heavier diesel engine. I would try to check this out on
trucks at local dealerships but nobody has this configuration in
stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to close the loop, it seems that this problem is not a chronic one,
although its very troubling to those who have it. I went back to the
dealer and started it up cold and listened real hard but it sounded
quite normal. Thus, my last fear was put to rest and I took the plunge.
Picking up my new (well, a 1998 :-) F-150 on sunday. I am happy guy.

Kevin.
