I've been after Ford for my "rough" idling 97 f150 5.4L since shortly after I got it last July. It now has 13,000 miles and I've had the engine replaced due to piston slap, and it still has the same problem. Ford says they are aware of the problem and "are working" on a solution. What has your experience been. How about anyone else out there? Idle comfort is not high, but overall performance is good == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html == FTE: Unsubscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jun 1998 13:21:58 EDT From: ROBBCWZ Subject: FTE 97up - Performance FYI I have an E-350 van with the V-10 Triton, 17,000 miles and usually rides with 12 to 14 folks onboard. Overall average has been 11-to-12 mpg. The last 3-tanks have given 13.4mpg. From: Bill Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Performance I was talking to a guy yesterday with a V-10 and 3.73 rear end F-250, he pulls a 4 horse trailer and when loaded he's getting 8 and 9 mpg, running without the trailer on open road about 12 mpg. Reports pulling power is good, but thinks with the same load in mountains the 4. something rear would be a better choice. He hates the outside mirrors as every bump in the road they move. That's all I have to offer.
