The Deluxe aluminum
wheel is a 16x7 .25 offset 8 bolt rated for 3415 max.
wheel capacity

The Premium aluminum wheel is a 16x7 .25 offset 8 bolt rated for 3415 max.
wheel capacity.

Ford rates them all the same. The XLT wheel (deluxe aluminum) is about the
same Forged wheel as last year's truck (made by Alcoa). I can't really tell
on the Lariat but it looks cast to me. I don't look for a problem but I'll
ask the question and find out. It takes about a week to get an answer so
I'll let you know then.

I am planning on ordering a '99 Expediton as soon as they are available
later this summer. I have several questions for any Expediton enthusiasts:

What are all the reviewers talking about regarding the highway steering
sway? Does the Expedition have a steering problem?

What about the height issue: I'm hearing a lot of different versions of
total height to contend with. My concern is fitting an Eddie Bauer (17"
wheels, luggage rack, etc.) into a parking garage with a 6'7" limit. Will
this be possible? Can the cross pieces of the luggage rack be easily
removed? I've heard that the biggest problem is the antenna being the
tallest point. A suggestion was to install a power antenna. Is there room
to do this without a major effort?

What about new features for '99? Any inside word?

Thanks.

For 98 the Cross bars are removable, but I don't know for 99 as they're
going to have a lower luggage rack. As for steering sway the Expedition is
tall and catches a lot of wind so it gets blown around (like all other
vehicles of this type) in a crosswind.
