Then all was dead. The dealer said there was a problem in the instrument cluster, which got replaced, along with the fuel gauge, wiiring harness and battery. Truck is an F-150 1997 Lariant with only 4,000 miles. Triton V-8 4.6. Anyone else had a similar problem? = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 97up-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jun 1998 20:20:50 EDT From: MRoadarDOJ Subject: FTE 97up - Remote Starting System Does anyone know if adding a remote starting system to a Ford truck (1999 F-350 w/V-10 in my case) is possible? Does it do anything to the warranty as far as Ford is concerned? Will Ford install one? Also, does it matter if the air-conditioning is in the "on" position when starting the truck or should it be left "off" until the engine is running? Finally, has anybody found any companies manufacturing brushguards and visors for the new super duties yet? Thanks. = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 97up-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 97up-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jun 1998 20:36:31 EDT From: John941 Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Remote Starting System Warn has one grillguard in black or chrome. The black grillguard is part #38050 and is $282 and the chrome is #38051 and is $482. You can contact them email at CSALS the brushguard for another 6 weeks or so. The grillguard takes all their winches up to 12,000lbs and uses the oem bumper. Springer" Subject: Re: FTE 97up - Remote Starting System Does your Super Duty have an auto trans or the 6 speed? Performance Products (www.performanceproducts.com) has a remote starter in their Spring 98 specialty catalog for Ford Trucks and Sport Utility vehicles. The catalog number is 11F. Looks like a generic unit, says it works with all vehicles with auto and fuel injection. Once you decide what you want and install it, why don't you post your experience so that others can learn from it? I heard what I thought was voltage snaps under the dash. The snaps sounded like the flashers but they weren't on. Then while running down the road at about 65mph I head the same damn snapping but this time it was faster than the flasher clicks. I really "know" voltage leaks and I do expect some problems from the sounds that I heard. I have 39K on the F-150 and have it in for arbitration. You have to be a bit careful about hooking wires to the engine etc. Ford, for the F-150, has two extra termnals for installing two 30 amp relays to control other OEM equipement. You can serioulsy screw things up by wiring additional components without following Ford directives. When in doubt don't do it. AND! yes a warranty for that part that you damage can be voided. The computers can be damaged with transient voltage spikes coming from some add on device., IMHO! Be certain that the sales literature says"fully compliant to manufacturers requirements" or something similar. Roy E. Springer wrote: > Does your Super Duty have an auto trans or the 6 speed? I will choose soon and will share experiences, good or bad. This is a great group and I am learning lots from the postings. Now a question for any of you----does anyone know of a simular group for dodge pickups? The reason I ask is that my employer bought 11 97 dodge pu's and 5 have worn out front brake pads in 14000 mi. I need info badly. We haven't had brake problem with our Ford pickups!! As this is a Ford group, could you please email privately to Thank you again for your help. - -- Proud of the 97-98 UTES!
