Clearly a design problem! But they are charging owner's about a grand to "repair" (modify) the drive train to mask the problem. The customer service rep was very kind until she became aware of the technical service bulletin I was referring to. Then it was like talking to a brick wall. I had to repeatedly demand arbitration paperwork. Concerning Dodge customer service; I off handedly asked my dealer about peeling paint on my 92 Dodge Dakota. He said to call the customer service number (he gave it to me). To make a long story short, Chrysler stripped and repainted the entire truck (the hood was the only place with peeling paint) for a minimal deductible cost. The truck is in the 7-70 warranty, but the paint warranty had expired. Well, the wife's Explorer will be traded for a Dodge Durango as soon as they are available without a premium. Oh, by the way, I've been a true "blue" Ford truck lover for the last 20 years. The Dakota is my first non Ford Truck. I had a problem with its allignment and I had to bring it back four times to have it repaired. They kept telling me that they had everything checked out and that is how an explorer drives. Well after the fourth time my warranty finally ran out and decided to take it to a Sears Automotive. Turns out that the only thing wrong with it, is that,it needed camber-caster kits. The part only cost $31. I don't know what it was that they looked at but all I know is that they spent more time and energy trying to tell me that there nothing wrong with it than fixing the truck right. Anyway if you ever want to buy a Ford don't go to Rancho Cordova, Ca. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 19:33:22 -0400 From: tajdaj To: fordtrucks80up Subject: Re: Ford Customer Service Message-ID: please get me off this On Mon, 2 Jun 1997 11:34:44 -0500 "William S. Anyone who has donated will receive a sticker unless the cost turns our to be enormous (I doubt it, I think they'll cost about a $1 each to make). This is **not** intended to be money-maker and I don't expect high quantity sales. Rather, it is the first step towards becoming a true club/organization. Ford is sending me information about other clubs. As always, the list will be free and we'll fund ourselves through donations or items similar to the stickers. When we become a club in the true sense I'm going to have to "share the reins" concerning the club yet I'll still handle the day-to-day admin of the list/web site (due to the nature of it its not a very sharable job).
