I have an 81 F100 302 w/ automatic trans. It was given to me by my bother-in-law, it had an etlbrock 600 carb on it. I live in stockbridge Ga. I am presently restoring the emmisions controls to it. no one seems to be able to tell me the exact motorcraft part number for the oem carb, can anyone help. please e-mail me at Seadog ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 12:13:41 -0600 From: Sean Winters Subject: RE: 81 F100 302 w/automatic trans There were no less than *six* different carbs for my '82 six banger; just for that year. Without the original I think it would be difficult to find the *exact* one. However, it seems that any of the carbs from that year for that engine would suffice. Another thing to consider is that if you go with the FoMoCo stuff, that carb will probably cost more than the truck. Consider going with a rebuilt unit from Napa or some other supplier. EPA lists 16/20 and in my past experience is usually conservative. It's an XLT 4x2, 4.9L six, E4OD, 8 ft bed, 2 tanks, standard cab with 90K miles in very good running condition. It does have 235 tires instead of 215's. I was expecting better out of the six. Anyone know what I should expect? - David ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 17:01:20 -0800 From: rockinghorse Subject: Parts / Car wax Peter, I have also used Zymol in the past, but it doesn't hold up as frequently as I wash my truck. In the last year or so,I have gotten into the habit of using the one step waxes immediatly after washing and drying the truck.I like the "Black Magic"products the best, although armour-all has a pretty good one too if you can stand the smell.(perfumy) This keeps it looking freshly waxed all the time. The more you use this kind of stuff, the better seems to work.Give it a try;it'll only cost you about 5 bux to check it for youreslf. I have the 351, 5.8 liter engine with the longer cab and 6-3/4' bed. I was wondering if this is such a good idea or not. I don't particularly like a loud exhaust system but just having the sound of rushing air coming out of the tailpipe seems a little funny (and restricting). Scott ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 20:52:37 EST From: FPonzani Subject: Bronco tire carrier My Bronco does not have the swing away spare tire carrier. The spare is inside the truck. I called around for after-market units, and the only one I found costs about $170. A used factory unit is impossible to come by. I heard that Kayline has a unit that also holds spare gas cans. Does anybody have advice on this? I'd hate to spend $170 and find out that it's junk. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 1998 00:41:37 EST From: BLURangr94 Subject: Re: turbo charged 94 Ranger I'm thinking of putting a turbo-charger from a 4-cyl porsche in my 2.3 liter Ranger. Todd T. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 1998 00:42:54 EST From: Croth2 Subject: fuelpump doesnt shut-off I have an 89 F-150 with a 302. after I shut the engine off, The fuel pump still pumps and buzzes loudly for 5 minutes before it shuts off, I'm almost positive its the fuel pump because when I switch to my empty tank I can hear it sucking air. I cant figure out why it does this, does it have something to do with my fuel filter or my fuel pressure regulator??? The truck also idles anywhere between 400 and 2,500RPM and sometimes dies when it idles, and it gets bad gas mileage. I just bought this truck and I want to get it running great. Any suggestions??? Are you trying to turbo a 2.3L ?? Go to a junkyard and get an SVO 2.3 turbo motor or a Mercur 2.3 or a turbo T-bird motor all are easier than adapting a Porsche turbo...You need to build and fabricate special exhaust manifold cooling and oil lines...computer?? wastegate valve???...will it effect EFI ??? I put an SVO 2.3L from a Mustang in a 94 ranger it'll keep up with a strong 5.0 mustang!!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 13:29:25 -0500 From: William Woodie Subject: noisy valves Sean Woodie wrote: i have an 87 f-150 300 I-6 4.9. under moderate aceleration you hear a clicking noise from under the hood.it sounds like the valves are causing the noise. do they need to be adjusted, replaced? the timing gears have just recently been replaced. the engine has 130 thous.on it. any ideas of what could be wrong, thanxs. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 1998 01:38:59 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: ADMIN: Survey Results Working (Beta) I've finally got the survey results working. Rather than continue to use the brain-dead CGI script for results (it was giving very bizarre results) I wrote a C++ program that sorts a 450k file into survey percentages and builds a 300k+ HTML result file. Your browser displays this file. Fairly quick considering that its doing about several million parses (takes about 10 seconds) on a multi-user Sun Workstation. This is a beta version. Although I've been programming for years this is my first complete dynamic web content program. It took about 1 day of coding. I think most everyone will like it. It will be greatly enhanced over the course of the weekend, with sorting and better catagorization. Give it a try (its not directly linked on the web site so you have to use this URL): http://www.ford-trucks.com/survey/results/t.shtml Let me know what you think and give me any suggestions. I'm also working on a program which will allow password protected access to the web site. This will allow me to give free web space to users, within reason. Lastly, I hope to replace the Java chat server with my own C/C++ program. Both these projects are considerably harder than the survey program.
