Ford Announces Super Value on Its New Super Duty F-Series Trucks DETROIT, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Manufacturer's suggested retail prices for the new Ford (NYSE: F) Super Duty F-Series truck line-up will be only 1.1 percent higher, on average, than prices for the present line-up, on a comparably-equipped basis excluding new models. Suggested prices for the 1999-model Super Duty F-Series trucks will start at $19,160 for the F-250 regular cab 4x2, compared with $18,765 for the current model, including destination charges of $640.With the introduction of the expanded Super Duty F-Series line, Ford is establishing yet another benchmark in the truck market. The Super Duty F- Series will deliver the most complete line-up of trucks in the over-8,500 lb. segment. With 44 pickup and chassis cab models available, including 21 new- to-Ford offerings and 17 models not offered by any other manufacturer, the 1999 Super Duty F-Series is another clear example of Ford's leadership in the truck market. "With everything we've done to enhance the Super Duty F-Series line-up, we're pleased to be able to keep prices at levels that make these great new trucks an even better value for our customers," said Ross Roberts, vice president and Ford Division general manager. "Our trucks are tough -- they have to be to meet heavy-truck customers' tough expectations for performance, roominess, versatility, dependability and overall value. Our new Super Duty F-Series line-up offers truck customers everything they've come to expect from Ford and more. We now have the most comprehensive range of models to meet the demands of the full-size market -- the most diverse of all vehicle segments."The new models offer all-new styling and a host of new or enhanced standard features, including new engines with more horsepower, higher torque and better fuel economy than the engines they replace; improved ride, handling, responsiveness and maneuverability; and four-wheel power disc brakes. Among other new standard features offered on the redesigned Super Duty F- Series trucks are a driver's side airbag on all models and four doors on all SuperCab models. Suggested retail prices will start at $20,915 for the F-250 SuperCab 4x2 model, including destination charges. A list of suggested retail prices for selected base models follows. I've just discovered your great forum for Ford discussions and this is my first question. I have a 96 Bronco 4x4 with the stock automatic. My wife drives the truck all the time and she hates the automatic and wants a 5-speed (I feel the same by the way). Is it feasible to install the Ford 5-speed. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any suggestions or comments (good or bad). I notice in the Ford manual that the towing capacity for the 5-speed is considerably lower than the automatic. Does this mean the 5-speed isn't as strong? Thanks, Dave ______________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jan 1998 23:36:39 -0600 From: Ezekial Subject: RE: Bronco/302 questions I have the same problems in my 88 F150. I think the bad gas mileage in my case is me "always" gassing it to much. But anyways, not to long ago I also had the same reving problem and when I took it in they said the manifold gasket had been sucked into down into the block somewhat. Don't know how this is possible, but this is what they told me. I also am getting 9-10 MPG. I need to replace my MAP or MAF valve sensor thing, so I don't know if this will make a difference. I found this on the computer in a automotive teaching school near hear. I would like some people to post with info on my words. I also have the tranni problem and from the posts of others I am wondering about the mount because I have checked and repacked my u-joints not to long ago. Yes, they are a little worn, but not that bad, so I am going to check out the tranni mount. - -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- | Ezekial | 66 Mustang Fastback, 88 F-150 | ezekial To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
