WD is cool on tools, but what do you use in the parts washer now that solvent is gone. Some people I know are using gas, but not me! I have heard that 80% #1 diesel and 20% gas does a pretty good job, but I haven't tried it personally. I would like to know what others are using as my old solvent is getting pretty dirty. Nothing that I can think of is going to cut grease and oil like good old cleaning solvent. I know that this is somewhat off the subject of Ford trucks, but it is a problem that needs to be addressed. Besides, Ford parts is what got my solvent dirty in the first place! Darned EPA. I said earlier you location makes a big difference in your policy. Some mentioned that they have to list all the age legal drivers that live in their house. This is because the insurance companies CAN charge you more money this way. Example: You're 35 and own an '95 F-250, but your 16 yr old son has his '83 Mercury whatever. Depending on state and insurance company regulations you can be charged for the 16 yr old (most high risk driver of the two) for coverage on the F-250 (most expensive vehicle in driveway) and it wouldn't matter if he NEVER drove it!!!! Man, I knew insurance companies made about the most money of any company in the world, but you should hear some of the stuff my wife tells me about (non-confidential stuff, of course). They are making FAR more money than you think and it's all due to crap like that. Someone mentioned they had an older car listed as their primary vehicle to reduce the cost on the newer truck, but some companies (again, depending on each state) would never let that happen. The wife had to be certified in all 50 states (yes, they call from Hawaii - - some guy there just payed cash for his Hummer - HELLO!) and that's because each state has their own rules. So it is most beneficial to shop around because each company sets up their regulations by what the state allows and many take advantage of it! It has an integral belhousing, so some sort of adapter would have to be fabricated, if it could be done at all. Lots of measurements would be needed and a skilled craftsman would be required to do the fabrication. Also, the unit behind the Diesel engines is not the same as the one behind the 460. The gear ratios are very different. The Diesel has a close ratio set of gears and the gas engine model has a wide set of ratios. There is a plate on the xmission that tells what the ratios are. I bought the truck with 63k miles, and I have always been a little disappointed in the lack of torque, at interstate speeds. With the cruise set at 75 mph, climbing relatively mild grades (I live in SC), the truck looses speed badly, and often shifts back to third gear. This occurrs without any kind of load, other than a full tank of gas. I am going to look at the boat of my dreams this weekend, and if I buy it, I will be pulling it with my F-150, and the lack of power is only going to get worse, although the boat, mtr, and trailer only weigh around 1500-2000 lbs. What I want to do is rebuild the 5.0 relatively stock, with only minor changes to compression ratio, and camshaft. I will do a street port job on the heads, and plan on keeping the factory cast iron exhaust manifolds. Now, for the questions: How much can I raise the compression ratio, and still keep the computer happy, and does anyone have any recommendations for the camshaft?
