Casey,

I must not have been paying attention did not relize you were looking at =
the extra-cabs. We were talking about the same thing. I dont have an =
extra cab (wish I did). I'm getting 18 on the highway and between 15 and =
16 in town. Now this is by my odometer that is a little off. I went from =
P235/70/15's to 31"x10.50"x15's. I know my speedo reads 3mph slower than =
you are actualy going so my milage is a little better than the numbers =
I'm giving you. I have not figured out a proper calculation to do that. =
Also the truck is lifted 2 1/2" in the front so it sets level and I have =
a Raven Truck Topper on it. This all affected my mpg. When it was bone =
stock I was getting around 19mpg in town and 21 to 22 on the highway =
depending on what speed I drove. With each modification the gas milage =
dropped a little. Sorry I was so long winded good luck finding your new =
truck.=20

I found the little information packet in my 83 (the one that tells about
the options of the truck) and on the flap is the order form for the Helm
manuals for my truck, total cost (for all, electrical, mechanical,
ect...) $65.00!! I don't think they would send em to me now though :(

all you need is to have someone send this email to the FCC. They can fix
your problem.

It is not a mechanical tach. There is a sending unit on the injection
pump. That's what usually goes bad. Replace the sending unit.

Hey guys, I joined right when you all were arguing about this transmission.
Since I'm stuck with one and i heard how much to replace it I've decided
to take care of it. Can anyone tell me from expierience the best best to
change out the fluid? Should I put in a plug like the the one in the oil
pan for easier access next time? What should I use? How much? Thanx in
advance...

Well I went to the bank to day to fill out a loan application and I was
denied because I am drawing on the Alaska State Educational Loan. I can
not draw a loan until I stop the student loan, so I can't even think of
getting another truck for four (maybe five) years. Thats good though,
give me a lot of time to know exactly what I want in my next truck. BTW
I still am interested in some fuel economy figures for a 4.0L 4x4 3.73
Limited SLip and auto tranny. Is there a fuel economy web site someone
could point me to?

Thanks

Doug is exactly right, the distributer is mis-matched to the cam. The
metal is different in the distributer gears between a roller cam and a
flat tappet cam.

I can help Dave! Put a Bronze gear on the distributor, so it can wear
w/the new cam gear.

Don't think you should have the E40D.. Think you should have the AOD, or
the 4R70W..

Hi All,
I've been lurking on the digest for a while and finally decided to talk
a little. I presently have a 95 F150 and a 94 Ranger, so I think I'm in
the right spot. I am very new to computers, however, so I hope you will
be tolerent of my mistakes. (What is spamming?)

To David Chapman who wrote "Brakes Stick When Wet": I had much the same
problem on the Ranger. I went to a parts store and bought a very cheap
pair of rear brake shoes and put them on, end of problem.

Well I've enjoyed reading the Digest and hope to contribute a little.
Good to be here.

YES.......

i had the same problem on my m motor after we rebuilt it

the gear on some aftermarket distributors is not located properly and sits on
the boss on the block and gives it a bind inducing the wear problem.....

bought a distributor from dealer and solved it.

bronze gears are designed for race use and only last about 30k.

a 95 model year. it was alot of fun cutting out the back of the cab to install
the light. but its done and its a perfect job.
