The engine is part of an E350 chassis as part of a motorhome. After driving for a couple of hours (or less). The engine begins to lose power and eventually stall. If you wait 20 minutes or so, it restarts and runs normally. I did have the fuel filters checked and replaced the one near the carburetor. I would appreciate any ideas. After Jake asked about that I looked in my Haynes manual and could not find any numbers for hp/torque of any motor at all. That kinda ticks me off, I thought these Haynes were supposed to be all that, but they can't even include something that simple (if I'm just not looking in the right places, someone please let me know). It helps when you want to do mods to your motor to know what you are starting with. As for the '86-'87 motors, they should be the same. '87 was the last year the 351W was carburated. I sure like that torque rating being in the 300 range and under 3000 R's factory, that's not too bad. But, of course, there's alwasy room for improvement :-} Randy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Feb 1998 20:05:20 EST From: ACMERCG Subject: 302 hp? My mileage is usually around 11-12mpg in daily commuting, but has gotten up to almost 15mpg on the highway while using cruise control. I'm not sure what all the differences are between the non-HO and HO are, besides the obvious use of the 4bbl carb on the HO version. I think the HO may have also used a different cam. If you do convert to the 4bbl, you might need to get the 4180 Holley carb from a junk yard HO motor in order to pass emissions, since this carb is specially designed to run lean and produce low emissions. If emissions testing is not required in your area, then you will probably be better off with one of the new 600cfm Edelbrock carbs since you'll probably get better driveability.
