I aquired some Pencool 2000 cooling system treatment and was wondering if this is compatible with what was put in at the factory. I don't want to end up with some funky reaction in my cooling system. Thanks in advance to all who reply, and a Big thanks to Ken for making this forum possible!!!!! You probably have a key ring with a *bunch* of stuff on it; this weight will often cause the problem you describe. There are two fixes; the cheap, temporary fix is to remove all but the truck keys. The best fix is to remove a lot of the extra weight from the key ring, and get a new switch; it's been damaged by the weight on the ignition key. - -- Bill Funk President, ASCII User Group http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.starlink.com/~ascii ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 1997 17:31:34 -0500 From: johnboy Subject: Re: diesel coolant additives George, The coolant additive at the dealer is only $7.00 a bottle, thats whats required to be added every 15,000 miles. I cant tell you if the Pencool 2000 is compatible or not, but in my truck, when compared to the price of oil changes, fuel filter changes, transmission fluid and filter changes, what the heck is $7.00 every 6th oil change????? LOL Just my opinion, Im sure every one out there has one as well and many probably dont agree with me, but then it is my truck I'm talking about so I get to do it my way. When the hubs are unlocked, it doesn't matter what kind of diff you have. I think you might have problems if you have a limited slip in the front with auto-hubs though. I read where Ford is the only full-size truck maker that still offers manual hubs and with a 5-speed, 4.10 gears, and the low lock in thr transfer case, Ford has the lowest crawl ratio of any new vehicle! I think this may have got lost in the shuffle so let's try again. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I've a bit of a problem with my clutch in a 90 Ranger 2.3L, 5speed that started about 120-130K miles (currently 150K). Symptoms: 1. clutch doesn't seem to fully disengage - shifting into 1st is VERY hard when not moving, shifting into reverse grinds. 2. doesn't always happen - sometimes everything works just fine 3. occasionally when completely stopped, clutch disengaged, all is ok - I can move into neutral and back to 1st - then in 1st with clutch disengaged I can feel a slight jerk and it takes a lot of pressure to move to neutral and is VERY difficult to get back into 1st 4. seems to be somewhat temperature (outside temp.) dependent - last summer I had the problem quite severely (a hot summer) and during the fall/winter/spring months it rarely acted up but this summer the problem is back Any ideas. Clutch plate/disk? Hydraulics?
