During that time have kept up with various chat modes, using basic truck power (486/33 ). Web chat does not compare to the quickness, rapid fire dialog that IRC can offer. But don't use one of the large IRC nets. Anarchy!! I found a smaller net to be an agreed upon rendezvous address. It had a NO piracy or sex rule, but now it's going to 'pay to access'. no thanks. So the current home for my IRC family is moving to Starnet on the 31st, because it is a clean net, growing, and free. Imo, good choice Ken! IRC is kinda a pain to get ez, but when you do, it is a Blast! (for some it's a dud, shrug) There's lot'sa help around, if that is stumbling block. Over time people will develop gathering times, and bonds. It's Great! Don't become addicted! z ya, Zeb zzeb on IRC ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Dec 1997 23:56:45 EST From: DUALIE Subject: Re: 1999 Ford "Suburban" I have seen the prodical son of the expididition it should have a GVW of around 3000# and the same frount clip as the mysitical 1999 F-350 and hopfully in my wishes have a powerstroke. thats all I know. You may have bad lifters. I have had 4 of the 300 Six engines and they all made the "Diesel sound" that you describe. It does not effect running and it probably hurts you more to hear it making that noise than it hurts the engine. I used to think the problem was in timing and set the timing many different ways and tried hi-octane gas. That did not help at all. You will just have to live with that noise. My friend at the test track, has come through once again. This is what he "let slip" this time. The one they are currently testing has a 7.3 Powerstroke with a "M6OD" (6 speed manual tranny) A new, heavy duty transfer case, with part time 4 wheel drive. (Sorry but still no specs.) He also let slip that they are expecting 2 more of these things out there. 1 is supposed to have the 6.8 V10 with a 4R100 (4 speed tranny) and, get this, daul rear wheels. Also with the part time 4 wheel drive and instead of a tailgate style rearend 2 swing out doors. The 2nd is supposed to be one with a 6.8 V10, M5OD and only 2 wheel drive. I wish he would share more specifics like gear ratios, horse/torque power and weight capacities. Well as soon as i find out more I will share it. Ford: The Best Never Rest! Before I replaced the tranny last spring the 4x4 worked fine. After replacing the tranny, the 4x4 does not work at all. I thought I either pinched a wire or pulled one loose and checked them. Everything was fine. I checked the transfer case computer module, and that works fine according to specs (led blinking when it should). I replaced the elctric motor that is supposed to engage/disengage 4x4 at the transfer case. It still doesn't work. I replaced the hard switches that are suppose to control the elctronic motor. I checked fuses, voltages and continuity on the wires going into the transfer case control module, the wires coming out of the module to the electric motor. Everything checks out fine. I pulled the electric motor off again and tested it, it works fine. I checked the transfer case out and it is in great shape. In other words, I've put alot of time and money into this and I still don't have 4x4 working. What have I missed. Obviously there is no power reaching the transfer case electric motor, but why?!? Is there a relay or fusible link somewhere in-line? If so, then where. I have a fairly detailed troubleshooting manual from Borg-Warner, and everything they say to check for has been checked at lease a couple hundred times, and it all checks out ok. There are no short circuits or split insulation on any of the wires? I have a fairly extensive electronics background, but this one has me totally stumped. I live in Minnesota, and so far have been very luck not to have received very much snow, yet, but it's coming. Any help with this would sure be appreciated. Thank you. Down here in Moab (home of jeep safari and truck lovers) a man named Eddie owns a 97 F-350 Crewcab Powerstroke Diesel (a $40,000 high performance piece of machinery) is putting it up for sale. It may be a rumor but people say he wants a Dodge. I'm sorry but I think this is rediculous! Even the biggest mopar v-10 Quadcab cannot compare to this Ford Diesel. I don't have room to argue because I don't own any of these trucks, but can someone please tell me why or why not someone might do this.
