I want to keep the bed a low as possible because I will be using a truck camper with it also. Also plan on carrying a generator mounted to a removable rack on front bumper, about 350lbs max, should I order snowplow or just heavy duty suspension. Are the aux rear springs, the old type which make contact after the truck sags to certain height? These are very annoying when your load is not quite heavy enough to make contact with them. They bounce like hell! I would rather use Air Lifts. Literature mention rear sway bars only available with drw why? Also undercoating, dealers says you can't get it, spec sheets show the order code? They also mention 18 gal mid tank and 37 gal aft tank any chance of getting both? //ck ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 23:53:27 -0500 From: Jason Lester Subject: Re: fordtrucks80up-digest V1 #219 Actually I think the F-150 does outsell both GM trucks. I read it in Four-Wheeler magazine a few issues back that they contacted both Ford's and GM's marketing departments and both agreed that the F-150 outsells both the Chevy and GMC 1/2 ton trucks. This happened as a result of an irate GM fan who wrote in with this same claim. Jason >Sometimes I have to wonder about Ford's #1 claim. I wrote 1988 instead of 1998. This is a brand new 1998 Ranger 4x4 xtra cab XL not XLT. It also has the rear cup holders only available on the XLT. Thanks for responding back, but any ideas on this one. That includes the F-150, -250, and -350 pickups, and they do, indeed, outsell the Chevy/GMC C/K series. I've heard from people who think there's a special tool needed. I've talked to people who have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention the little steel clips on the fuel lines. I need to hear from someone who know. Thanks, John. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 01:25:19 -0500 From: Ken Payne Subject: Re: 97 F-150 Fuel Filter At 01:04 AM 11/15/97 EST, you wrote: >Surely someone out there must know the details of changing a fuel filter. > I've heard from people who think there's a special tool needed. John, I don't know if you missed it but earlier someone answered your question. Here's the repost: From: Bob Fiddes John, Go to your local NAPA dealer and buy the little plastic clamps/inserts that clamp over the fuel filter pipe and slide into the hose assembly. These release the locks that hold it in place. Then the fuel line can be slid off the filter. The clamps/inserts/tools come in 2 or 3 different sizes but they only cost about a buck a piece. Hope this helps. Bob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 22:31:54 -0800 (PST) From: Carl Warren Levin Subject: Re: fuel filter change for f 150 Get a manual. The horns have a chassis ground at the mounting points and are supplied by a Light Blue/Orange wire. There is a Horn Relay! which should be mounted under the drivers side dash.
