Same logic applies to manuals. Take the case of two of my F-350 flatbeds,
used for towing / hauling daily. One driver never tows heavy loads in 5th,
one does. Driver who doesn't going on 80K miles on original clutch. Driver
who does has new clutch 34K miles... Oh well, at least he still has a
job.....
Its up to the driver to pay attention to the truck. Not just look for
shifting in / out of OD, but pay attention to the engine. If its laboring
along too few RPM's, drop a gear (or, as I do, speed up till it's
comfortable. No, I don't want your tickets, I have enuff o my own) and bring
the revs up a little.
Funny, my Bronco has certain speeds around town where EOD uncomfortable.
Again, push the button or pick up the pace...

This dork is off the list. To other members, please don't
ever put an auto-responder on an email address used by
a mailing list.

This person has been permanently removed from the lists.
Re-s*bscribe attempts will get bounced. Sorry I didn't
get to it right away, I'm out of town and handling my
email remotely (as if email isn't remote already).

Josh,
Thanxs, that makes sense to me, but how much larger diameter would I be
looking at? If I could get better performance by just changing diameters,
why doesn't stock come bigger? I realize these are probably maive questions,
but be patient with me - I'm just starting to get into this. Thanks alot,
Craig

The shop where I had my Rhino liner installed was doing a thriving business
in spraying (if you will pardon the expression) Jeep interiors - hose clean,
insulates and doesn't rot like wet carpet....

Subject: Why does1988 Ranger with 2.0 carb exist

I have a friend with a 1988 Ranger that has a carbureted 2.0L
engine not a
2.3L fuel injected. (Kelley Blue book doesn't cover it as an engine
> option.) It came with absolutely zero options. Even the radio was an
aftermarket item. Everthing we order for it is special purchase. For
example the carburtor base gasket only comes in a $125 kit.

Was this truck normally available at a dealer lot in 1988?

Is it a fleet truck or outside U.S production?

She has a lot invested in the truck, but getting work done on it is difficult.

Thanks,
Ron Nelson

Craig,

You don't want to go too much bigger, maybe 1/2 inch max. Most stock
exhaust systems are restrictive and are small to help out with
emissions.
