I've found a solution, sort of. While I can't configure the list to filter out binaries, I can configure it to bounce emails posted containing any item I wish. I'm adding "winmail.dat", "base-64" and other key words to the "taboo" file. If you get a bounce, change your email settings to not use MIME, base64, colors, special fonts, etc. If all else fails, dump your Microsoft or Netscape mailer and get a mailer that's friendly with the rest of the world. Windozs users should try Eudora lite: www.eudora.com Its free and a very good package. Ken Note: Replies to this message may bounce as I'm going to implement the filters shortly. This message contains the "taboo" words that are going to get filtered. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Oct 1997 10:59:00 -0400 From: "Tom L." It'll go to a vote in a few days once I have a voting form on line. As always, simple majority wins. So far in our history we've had 3 votes for splitting, twice the split won and once it lost. I've always been democratic about these things so even though it doesn't directly effect the 1960- and 1961-1979 lists they'll get to vote on it too. The 1960-/1961-1979 list split was brought before this list so its only fair. I do want to say up front that if another list is formed it will not start up until after I find another job. That shouldn't be a major delay as I start interviews with a vengence this coming week. I've heard >you don't really need one, is this true, Technically, the gasket can be left out. It did not have one when it left the factory. As a practicle matter, though, I would put one in because the head-to-manifold mating surfaces are probably not as good now as they were when the engine was new, so you will get slight leaks without a gasket. Once it starts to leak, it will burn a path through and get worse very quickly. - -- Jim Cannon Certified Quantum Mechanic Houston, Texas "Didja hear the one about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac? My husband has a 1989 Ford F-250 7.3L Diesel that we bought brand new. He loves his truck, and actually, so do I. He uses it for his construction/manufacturing business, so it is very important to us that it work. And, it is our only vehicle for the next 10 days until I get my brand new Expedition (why don't these things come in a 5-speed?!) Anyway, we have been having trouble with our prize vehicle - it does this failure to start thing at least once a day. Here is the scenario: We live in southern California - no hard starting because of weather. It starts fine first thing in the morning. Next, we drive around doing things like work and shut the motor off. If he tries to start it within, say , 30 -45 minutes from that time, it doesn't start off. The starter cranks, but the engine doesn't engage. Next, I have to get my 5'9" blonde frame out of the truck and push this beast down the road/drive/whatever so that he can pop the clutch and start it. Now, I know that is usually the man's job, but I kind of enjoy just being able to do it, so he's really not a pig. I'm actually getting tired of this charade, though, because sometimes I do wear dresses to work, as I teach 1st grade and my children find it amusing to see me pushing this truck around. We have done the following that I am aware of: It has spent at least 6 different nights in mechanic prison doing time for its crime. We have replaced the glo-plugs, We have adjusted the timing on the fuel pump? We have replaced the fuel pump because it was discovered this last time that the pressure drops to 3 instead of the usual 6-8 when the failure occurs. We have done a couple of other things, which I can't remember and Horst (the husband and Ford Truck enthusiast) is asleep right now so I can't ask him. Still, we weep.... I hate to beg, but does anyone have another suggestion as to what would be.... To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
