This from the 9/99 issue of Car Craft:

IN: Editor David Freiburger's new Dodge Ram 4X4 V-10, regular cab,
five-speed manual: a man's truck
OUT: Freelancer John Pearley Huffman's new Toyota Tundra 2X4 [sic] V-8,
extended cab, four-speed automatic: a weenie's truck

IN: Huffman's new truck was built in Indiana
OUT: Freiburger's was assembled in Mexico

So, is the Hoosier-built Toyota "Jap Crap"? The lines are kind of blurry
these days.
Incidentally, this is the first time I can remember that Car Craft has
said anything good about a truck...

I don't know, I hear some of the Jap jobs are pretty reliable
compared to the new cars that are being put out. The Toyota's
normally seem to be pretty reliable little vehicles. I wouldn't own
one though. Having too much fun with my F-150. :)
