I cranked my new 351W today ('82 F150). I've got good spark at the coil,
fuel ok thru the carb, but nothing but cranking with the ignition. I set
number 1 to fire at 10 dgrees BTC, but I think I'll pull the dist and set it
to TDC and then check it from there. Any other suggestions??

Steve

Make sure you are on the compression stroke. You might be 180 degrees out.

It's a problem that I have seen in all Fords I have come caross with
the overdrive transmissions. Either they were set wrong from the
factory, or there is a serious design flaw somewhere along the line.

That's not bad. I have found myself driving it out of overdrive at 55
MPh. I'll only kick it in myself around 60 to 65 depending on where
I am going, which isn't very often, or isn't very long. Driving it out of
overdrive makes it easier for passing and that kind of thing. At
least the throttle isn't wide open.
