With your tire size and 3.50 gears 15-25mpg(imp) that would be about 14-23mpg(us) with the best being at 50mph on the highway and the worst being city driving. My lowest ever was 11mpg(imp) pulling a 21' travel trailer behind the van at 70mph while loaded to the hilt. Best ever was 5 consecutive tanks at 25mpg doing interstates at 55mph, again loaded to the hilt (wife + 4 kids and a month of gear) but no travel trailer. Best of 17mpg pulling the travel trailer at 50mph. > Tires - two of the 235 85 16s are badly worn and will need to be >replaced soon. Will be used to tow and > launch a 18' boat and as a third auto. Don't worry about the gauges, they suck. On my front tank it takes about 50 miles to use a 1/2 tank, but I can go almost 100 miles after the needle has passed E. The other guage never gets above 1/4 tank, unless I am sitting still (figure that one out). My mileage is around 19 mpg around town, 20 highway, and about 15 towing my car. It's still little up in the air at the moment, I just put in an overdrive and haven't used enough fuel to tell where the mileages are going to end up. Newer seats should fit with no problems, I think up to 94 but don't quote me on that. For the rear I'd get a thin sheet of plywood, cover it with foam and some vinyl from a hobby store, and put velcro on it to hold it in. Or, if you aren't as cheap an SOB as I, you could probably go to any auto upholstery shop and have one made for about $50. Never tried to redo the instrument panel. There's a lot of room to work in there (compared to my MG Midget...) Headliners are really pretty cheap. I think it would cost about $50-100 to have a new one put in. I just use a quality 8 ply. Don't get a light truck tire. The heavy front end will tear the tire up long before the tread wears out. Ronald M. If your hard shifting is REALLY hard, then there may be trouble. Also, something to consider: was a shift kit ever added to this? It may have been re-programmed to alter the shifting characteristics. Does add alot of power but smoothes the power range out! I also believe someone said that crane makes they same cam for ford motorsports and its B351! Hope this helps someone, save from changing to mass air(expensive). You may want to check into getting a chip custom made. You might be able to use the cam if you reprogram the computer to use it. Even with a badly worn gear set I think you would see a discernable amount of play there. It may take turning the engine over by hand. As you rotate the engine note the position of the rotor, reverse direction and see how quickly the rotor reverses direction. You should see the amount of play you have in the timing set.
