Worse still we always rode in the back...and my Father always removed the tailgate when he got a new truck. I guess kids today are just better at getting into trouble. Ed Gerald L. Probably a question for the PERF list, but most of those guys are into big blocks. Can't blame 'em--makes sense in a truck! Well, it looks like they didn't find anything in particular but, they did perform two services, one TSB and another service recall. I was hoping that somebody from the list would be able to help me out in understanding what they did. According to the print out: Hook up SBDS, performed KOEO and KOER, ran idle data playback and found reading normal. Removed fuel pressure regulator cleared screen performed performance sheet. and ran Oasis performed TSB 97.9.8 PCM reprogramming Perform program 97B16 DIT air cleaners 1864 service recall. Could somebody shed some light on this? After driving it now for 30 miles or so, I'm finding that the shifts are smoother and a little bit later. I personally like it, I'll have to check the mileage on the next tank. Thanks, this is such a great resource. Congrats on the truck. I am not sure, but I would guess the tank is 19 gallons like the 3/4 and 1 tons. Never had a 150 before, but I would think they would use the same tanks. He is interested in starting his own snow removal business but is not sure if his truck will do the job (of course he will have to buy a plow). We were wondering: will his truck do the job? what kind of truck is best for plowing(might buy a different truck)? some tips on snow plowing? what type of plow is best? any suggestions? F250 or F350 diesels are the best by far. Mostly we use Myer plows but the Westerns are good too. Depends on the size of the jobs you want to do. The 150 is OK for driveways, but I would not use it for parking lots. It is too hard on the truck. I have seen a F250 plow what a F150 could not begin to move. Auto trans is the best. Plow with the snow, don't wait for eight inches to hit the ground before you start. Begin plowing at 2 - 3 inches. Think about were you will put the snow before you begin to plow. Time spent planning your plowing direction pays off later. Snow plow operators are on call 24 hours a day in season, if you have another full time job, who plows when you are at work? My company operators have spent 16 hour at a time in the cab! Personal auto insurance will not cover you while plowing for hire and commercial property owners will not hire you without proof of proper insurance coverage. Consider the area in which you live, if you do not receive at least ten 6 inch snowfall events, how will you recoup your investment? On the bright side you can make some mighty big bucks plowing snow. If you go after it as a BUSINESS not a HOBBY. Scottie Schmidt wrote: > Hi, my dad currently has a 93 F-150 I6. My name is Tracy Wilkinson and I hail from Huntsville, Al. Owning a 1994 Lightning, 1988 Ranger, and 1984 Bronco II, I feel like I belong on both the Lightning list and the Ford truck list. My specialty is custom machining for the aerospace industry and of course the automobile accessory niche. I have just got through producing some really neat billet tags that have the Ford logo recessed in them, and I have some with the Lightning logo. They are about 1/4" thick with the logo recessed about 1/8" deep. I plan on also making some license plate frames for the rear similar to those you see in the truckin mag ads. If you are interested in these things or something completely custom please feel free to e-mail me at: tlwilkin Your list seems to be pretty informative so let's keep up the good work! Sorry for the shameless plug, just thought some of you might be interested. == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Aug 1998 00:03:46 EDT From: Croth2 Subject: FTE 80-96 - tranny noise? I just had my 89 F-150 4x4 into the shop to get a "new" rebuilt tranny. the place where I bought the truck did the service, and its a GM dealer, so I dont like them doing work on it, but it was under warranty. When I went to pick it up I could hear a weird noise coming from the tranny. the noise would stop when I put it in gear and it would start again when I started driving. It would sometimes stop when I pushed in the clutch. it is easily audible when the truck is idling, but you can only here it inside the cab. any ideas?? == FTE: Uns*bscribe and posting info www.ford-trucks.com/faq.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Aug 1998 00:20:19 -0000 From: "Radoje Spasojevic" Subject: Re: FTE 80-96 - what tranny do i have????????
