I've got a similar problem in my 92 F-250 Reg.Cab. I bought the truck
used last year, and it was pretty filthy, and not well cared for. I
removed the door panels during my thorough cleaning, in addition to
having to replace the shot front speakers in the doors.

I noticed that on the very first ride i took, when i put the panels
back on, just over to the local video store 5 min. away, i drove over a
small bump in the road, and heard a very loud pop/crack type of noise,
from the right side of the cab. I was puzzled to say the least, but in
consideration of just reinstaling the door panels, i thought that was
probably the culprit. I had one hell of a time trying to get all the
push in clips on the backside of the door panel to seat properly. What
had happened in my case here was the door panel actually popped back
out a little bit, because i checked it when i stopped, and when i
pushed against the door panel, it pushed closer to the door. When i put
it on, i know i pushed it on and seated the clips as far as they would
go. My guess is , which i noticed a couple of other people have already
mentioned here too, is the "plastic" making these noises. My truck is
an XLT, which has the door panel with speakers grills near the top
front corner. Cloth inserts running across near the top. A storage
pocket about mid-way opposite the door opening handle with a courtesy
light just underneath of that. A map pocket along the bottom with
carpeted trim running the whole length of the bottom of the door. It
also has power windows and locks. I would be curious to know if anybody
has a more "base model" truck with different style door panels, or even
no door panels, just a painted metal panel, and gets this
noise.....???......anybody.....???

Hey all-
I too have the popping sound in the dash, the creaking pop in the cross =
member, and the bushing knock in the front I beams, but this is different=
...

I'm heading off to Lake Tahoe for the weekend and I thought I would let =
you know about this whine that ususally comes from the rear of the cab.

Tahoe from my house is about a 3 hour drive. Right about Sacramento-ish,=
one hour into driving, I will start getting this lil whine that continue=
s for the next couple of hours. It will keep getting louder as we go, =
we've tried to drown it out by turning up the radio but to no avail. I =
have a super cab and some times it comes from right behind me and then =
other times it comes more from the passenger side or even the middle. =
It starts small, might go away for a little bit, but is always sure to =
come back. As life goes on I seem to get more and more used to it.

Best way to describe it- It sounds like this, "When are we going to get =
there?
But sometimes it's a lot more frantic, "DADDY, I SAID, ARE WE THERE YET?"=
(in as sarcastic a tone as a 4 year old can get)

I'm sure others on this list have the same sounds, or something close com=
ing from their back seats. Just a friendly reminder, there's more to lif=
e than working on our beloved vehicles. Let's get out there and take som=
e time to enjoy life! Use these vehicles for what we bought them for. =
Get a little whine going, and then make it all worth while!

I finally found several sources of the popping noise on my '95 F-150
XLT.

One is coming from the right door where the bottom pocket is attached to
the front edge of the door. It is the loudest. I don't know how they did
it, but Ford managed to make a sound that women can't stand. If you grab
the front of the pocket where it meets the front of the door panel and
try to move it around you will hear it. I have not fixed it yet, but I
am thinking of removing the door panel and either gluing it or dampening
it with a piece of electrical tape or Clear RTV.

The second place, not as loud, is coming from the glove box. The top of
the glove box has sharp corners on it and it is coming in contact with
the radiused inside pockets of the dash. If you take a sharp knife or
file and round off this corner it will stop this one.

There are many more smaller creaks and pops but these are the ones I've
found. There is also a disagreeable sound that only occurs when she is
in the truck, but it is impossible to suppress : )

Motor Speedway from Sept 11-13. Tickets are $15, $5 for children

Yep, my supercab has two of those whines. Ford has claimed that this noise
will subside gradually as time goes on but will never completely go away.
One solution that has worked for some is to repeat the phrase "five more
minutes" everytime this whine is heard. For some, however, this seems to
make the whine worse so use at your own risk.

I notice that all my gauges will read a little low at times, the fuel, oil,
and temp. I think that the
voltage in the entire system is a little low when this happens.

I have a '84 F 150 200 six 2wd .

It might be a buzzer. I bought my 84 F 150 brand new and a week later I
took off the dash pad and
found that buzzer and unplugged it.

I would also like to know where to look for this water leak. I have a
1983 F100 with 50,000 miles that is solid as a rock body wise or at
least I thought so. I noticed that there was water pudling in the area
around the drivers side kick panel after a heavy rain or when I washed
the truck. I found that the drains for the air vents in the kick panels
were plugged with leaves and the vents were filling up and over flowing
into the cab. I thought this would solve the problem but still found
water leaking in.

I then removed the rear window because water was leaking down the back
wall of the cab. I resealed the window and reinstalled it. I also
removed the rubber floor mat to dry out the insulation and found that
there were small patches of rust on the floor from the wet insulation.
It was wet all the way up the fire wall. More than I would expect from a
leaky rear window! I wire brushed the rust and found about 6 quarter
size holes through the floor. So much for my rust free truck. I welded
patches over the holes and know must look for the leak.

My next step will probably be to remove and reseal the windshield. The
truck also has factory installed clearance lights and they maybe leaking
and letting water run down the windshield pillar to the floor. Has
anyone else had the problem and found a solution?

Umm.. I'm a little confused. The diagnostics and the $240 was for the RABS
Module (the electronic doodad up under the dashboard) - so there is also a RABS valve

located on the frame rails? Do the diagnostics differentiate between the Module and
the Valve?
