Extremely modified suspension vehicles are great fun for off-road purposes. But they pose a danger to the public when driven on the highways and streets. Many will disagree, but I feel we owe the public some consideration. Because we drive vehicles on the street which cause John Q. to believe we are endangering his family, law makers are going to restrict us. Extremely modified suspension vehicles are really SPECIAL PURPOSE vehicles. The best way to handle the restrictive laws of New Jersey is to trailer the vehicles to and from those events in which they are used. I admit not everyone can afford the tow vehicle and trailer this requires but it appears to be the only solution that will satisfy the public. Agreed, some off-road don't belong on the road, just as some racing cars don't belong on the road. >But they pose a danger to the > public when driven on the highways and streets. It isn't just the public, high lift off-road and tend to roll easier. If a single vehicle rolls and the people in it end up in the hospital, and can't pay for it, we (those that do pay our bills) have to make up for it. Of course most people can pay their bills, but there are always a few that don't. > Extremely modified suspension vehicles are really SPECIAL PURPOSE vehicles. > The best way to handle the restrictive laws of New Jersey is to trailer the > vehicles to and from those events in which they are used. I think part of the problem is people not wanting to pay $$$$$ for a vehicle that they can't drive on the road (be it race or off-road). Plan fact is, there are some vehicles, that due to their SPECIAL PURPOSE design, should not be on the road, the question comes in drawing that line. I didn't replace the TPS yet but this weekend, I reset the onboard computer, in hopes that that would fix it. No change but the Check engine light came on. I did! no problems fired it back up and the light didn't come on. I continued to drive and the let off the gas to cost around a turn and the truck stalled out. This truck is really well maintained. It is really starting to bug me. My problem is that my 5.8L is idling real rough and it has a throttle response delay as I told you before. I thought a miss was the culprit and got rid of the spark plugs and wires. No luck! Other info - Hypertech chip, K&N Air charger kit, 9mm plug wires, Accel Cap and Rotor, etc. I also have dual free flow Stainless Steel Exhaust ANY RECOMMENDATIONS??? If you have a solution to that, I want more horsepower, any recommendations. Any ideas ??? Allen Yo Allen: I think you may have two different problems. If the AC compressor cycles rapidly, it usually means that the system is low on refrigerant. Probably has a small leak and needs re-charged. Compressor cycling when AC (or defrost/mix) is not selected probably means a wiring/switch problem. I'd pull the AC/heater controls from the dash and look for something out of place there. Many Ford vehicles are designed to run the AC compressor whenever defrost (or mix, which is also defrost) is selected to de-humidify the air blown onto the windshield. If you truck does that, it's probably normal. Dave R.
