I know, I think that number is quite high. Most of the accidents I
see down here are the compact cars slamming into other vehicles
trying to beat them to a certain spot, cutting in front of them or
whatever.

My whole time driving, I think there was only one truck driver that
got pretty close up on my rear end when I was doing the speed
limit. Simple thing to do, slow down quite a bit, stay back from the
vehicle you are following to allow for more stopping distance. That
will reduce the chances of the driver slamming into your car. If it
scares you that bad, then change lanes or pull over and let the
trucker pass.

Well, here in Ocala the roads are in pretty decent shape. There
are some that need to be fixed badly, but then I have seen the
spots on the road where it is deteriorating. It is mostly the huge
numbers of passenger cars that are driving along them that are
causing the problem. You can see the trails, if it were the tractor
trailers, I'm sure the gaps between the strips would be wider apart,
and then the strips would be wider because of the dual
wheels on
the back.

Just bought a 85 F150 had to replace the clutch master cylinder just a
question on the correct adjustment on the push rod going into the master
cylinder. I just adjusted it out till the assembly went in the cylinder and
would reach the clutch pedal assembly. Seems to be working okay. Just want
to know if any one knows the proper procedure.
Speedometer does work whats the best place to start at the cable. Thanks
for your time.

Yeah, probably a maintenance thing. Like up in Michigan where
they bomb the roads to smooth out the potholes!

I lived in Florida for 6 years, my family's been there for 150 years.
Needless to say, I drive there quite often.

I hate driving the interstates and the turnpike in Florida. There's
been road construction for 15 years on the turn pike, on the same
stretch and it never seems to get done. Its pretty scary in a pickup
when there's a 6 inch drop-off in the middle of the lane for 50 miles
at a time. And they have the gall to charge you to use this road!
The interstates are only slightly better. Florida roads eat tires too.
The small shells in the tar do more to a set of motorcyle tires in one
trip than I put on them in 2 years of riding. It seems to be worse in
the tourist towns (which accounts for about 50% of the state).

Best roads? Georgia, most of Tennesee, parts of the Carolinas. Ark
roads stink, but then again, its one of 3 poorest states in the nation.
Really hard driving on roads in a truck with no paved shoulders and
a 65 speed limit. Oregon had nice roads, when I was there.

How do you put new weahter stripping into the window channel? I can't
seem to get the window out either. It is manual crank, and it seems
like it is glued to the support on the bottom, which is riveted to the
arm that raises the window. Can it be done with the window in the
door? If so, how?

About the cat, Ford called back and told me that "some 83 351W had cats,
some did not." Will that fly if I tell the inspectors that it never had
one to beging with? (I don't know for sure, as I am not the original
owner)

***WHEW*** It's hot in here! Just got the Digest; what a flame-fest.
Just one final word, then please can we talk about Fords some more?

The Interstates were built BECAUSE of 18 wheelers, in order to get them
off of the little roads the rest of you use and to expedite "interstate"
commerce. Truckers run on tight schedules and are paid by the mile.
Speed is money, and money is why we're out there. If you don't want to
deal with fast trucks, feel free to use the state and county roads in
your area.

BTW, it isn't speed alone that causes traffic danger. If you're doing
the limit and everyone else is going 90, YOU'RE the hazard. People
driving way faster or way slower than the average flow of traffic cause
turbulence when others must maneuver to pass/avoid them, and it's
turbulence that causes wrecks. Safe drivers and truckers stay with the
flow.

As you may have guessed, I make my living on the highway. I drive an
intercity bus up and down I-65 every day, and I know of what I speak.
Most of your posts about trucks are right on the money, and Ford truck
guys are some of the best drivers out there.

See you on the road... lordjanusz

How are the people with old cars and the truckers road hogs? I
see more people in the compact cars that think they own the roads
more than the truckers and other drivers. I have been cut off more
times by people in passenger cars. I haven't had it happen to me
from a truck driver.

My Theroy is that those who only drive small cars do not know they have
blind spots, so they drive that way. That is why all people should learn
how to drive on a truck so they can appreciate all of the blind spots we put
up with and learn how to make use of those little mirrors you can put on
your
big mirrors. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone, but it does to me.
This also applies to parking, I see little cars who get in a spot crooked
and
have to back out a couple of times whereas I can just pull right in, in my
truck.

Enough of my ramblings...

You'd have to read the web page they have...

It's not road hog in the sense your thinking of...

I don't know, I don't drive a small car, I had to a year or so ago, I
hated it. I hate riding in them too, you don't have any good chance
of coming out of it if there is a pretty bad wreck.

Anyway, my F-150 definetly has it's blind spots alnog with all of the
other large vehicles. That's why a good glance back when you are
changing lanes, even if you are just turning into a turning lane and
you are right at the break of the no passing zone. You wouldn't
believe the number of people that try and hop into the turning lane
before everyone else trying to to cut around other traffic.....
