I am looking for an aftermarket source for parts for my '91 F-350. I
called/visited about 6 local parts stores looking for a power door lock
accuator. Every time I was directed to the dealer. I ended up paying $99
because I am to lazy to reach accross the cab to unlock the passenger door.
I believe this is to high a price to pay for sloth! Anybody got any
suggestions?

Thanks, Hal Sylvan

Ford just recently came out with a TSB for your exact concern. There is a
company you can call and get a special lube for the gears in the back. I
dont know the number of the TSB but maybe your dealer does. If you have
trouble getting it yourself let me know and I can get the info for you.

Chris-
You are right, the stickers under the hood are not great, but they are your
best reference. Work with a Helms shop manual to decode the sticker, and
then post specific questions to the group. People who also have '86s (it
helps to know which engine you have and if it is a Calif. model) will help
you out.

My 1980 F-150 with the 300 CID I-6 engine had a bad hesitation when I got
it from a friend and I traced it back to incorrect vacuum hose routing. It
took me a few days of reading, careful tracing, and labeling to get them
all right. (And this is a simple engine, I suspect, compared to your '86.)

underneath the hood, but it sucks. Drawings, pictures, information,
etc would be appreciated greatly. I have 3 or 4 hoses that I can't....
